Hadjar was then told that it would be an opportunity for his new engineers to learn, to which the Frenchman replied: “It definitely helps. Yes, to be honest I hadn’t thought about it. It’s interesting. It’s a good idea.”
Red Bull has previously said it intends to announce its 2026 line-up for both teams by the Mexico Grand Prix, which will take place immediately after Austin on October 24-26.
But Hajjar claimed he “didn’t know” that was the case, but “it doesn’t change my point of view at all”.
“I’ve been saying this a million times. Probably a lot of things, but when you’re strapped into the car, and I’m driving, I really don’t think about anything else other than doing the best I can. That’s it,” Hadjar said.
Lawson also stressed that the team has not yet given him a deadline, although the 23-year-old is in a similar position to Tsunoda as he fights for his future in the championship.
That’s because F2’s Arvid Lindblad is expected to be promoted to Racing Bulls next year, leaving the seat next to the 18-year-old Red Bull junior filled.

“My entire career so far in Formula 1, not that it’s been too long, but it’s been that way,” said Lawson, who is contesting his first full season in the championship and started the year at Red Bull but was demoted to Tsunoda after two points-less rounds.
“That’s how I came into the game last year, things have always been like that and it’s something we’ve been familiar with from a young age in the junior program.
“We’re put under this pressure, we’re always on a performance-based program and it’s designed to put us under pressure, so it’s nothing new to be honest.”
