Imagine sipping a hot toddy on a worn-out leather chair in a cozy, oak-paneled library – that’s the feeling you get with every stroke. “It’s like ‘old money aesthetics’ in a bottle,” my fiancé shares. It’s dark and leathery, yet it has notes of sweet vanilla, ginger, coriander and cardamom that keep it from being too woody. Interestingly, cardamom blooms more on my skin than on my fiance’s. (Everyone’s pH is different, which is why everyone smells different!) Despite this, we both received countless compliments while wearing it, and friends were always surprised to find that we smelled absolutely Wearing the same fragrance. We also both commented on how long it lasts; Even after a long workday, I could still hear the whisper of Eau d’Ombre Leather on his collar.
2. Jovan I Want You to Want Me Eau De Parfum

This $16 scent was such a surprise hit. Rose notes typically read more “feminine”, but here it’s paired with cashmere, pink pepper and gourd musk for a more warm, spicy touch. Imagine curled up, sun-warmed sheets in the late morning – fresh, soft and comfortable. Musk is also known to work with your body’s chemistry to create a unique, subtle skin scent, which I think is very sexy.

It doesn’t last as long as other options – we’ve both noticed it wear off within a few hours – but you can really give yourself a nice spritz without worrying about it being overly powerful.

Victoria Beckham herself said, “If you like a different kind of vanilla, you’ll love this scent.” told me earlier About her latest perfume. “This is my favorite of all our fragrances so far.” She also shares it with her husband David, as it was inspired by a dinner date the couple had in Java, Indonesia. So obviously, I needed to throw this into the mix.
You definitely smell the vanilla, but the scent is based around a base of smoky tobacco leaves, crisp cedar wood and tonka bean, which makes the sweet smell earthier and more sophisticated. The vintage-inspired emerald and gold flacon also resembles a 1920s flask, which just oozes sexiness. My fiancé immediately pointed out this “pretty looking bottle,” noting that the design makes him want to break it frequently. Like the Beckhams, we’ll continue to share it on date nights.

Well, clearly, my fiancé and I have a thing for woody gourds because we also couldn’t get enough of Parfums de Marly’s Bourbon Vanilla scent. It’s basically cozy seasonal in a bottle with the addition of bourbon vanilla, notes of cinnamon, guaiacwood, ambrox and praline. Yet it also includes orange blossom, bergamot and musk, which give the perfume a noticeable warmth. In fact, we both used the word “bright” to describe the fragrance, which reflects how strongly those fresh, fruity notes shine through.
Alathier also has the most gorgeous dry-down (most perfumes from prestigious Parisian fragrance houses); On my skin, those fruity notes really shine before evolving into a rich, slightly nutty base that lasts for more than eight hours.
