Wolf performed “the worst season” for Mercedes in Jeddah

Toto Wolf was abandoned that Saudi Arabia Grand Prix believed that “the worst performance ever” was Mercedes,

Silver arrows finished fifth (George Russell) And sixth (Andrea Kimi Antoneley) In Jeddah, because it lags back from rivals McLarenRed bull and Ferrari,

Wolf was confused as to why Mercedes was lacking speed, especially when it was a strong start for the 2025 Formula 1 season, entering the second of the Grand Prix in the championship.

Mercedes Boss said, “This was clearly our worst performance of the year.” “The speed was just blistering with blistering, overheating tires and we have not yet received clarification.”

The fact is that Mercedes was in a hurry in qualifying – Russell introduced the Grand Prix in the third – deepened the disappointment for Wolf.

He said: “You manage your expectations being the second fastest – and even it is not clear what we want to achieve – and then you see the race by paning as if it was done. It just adds the frustration of the situation.”

Russell shared Wolf’s frustrations, who were struggling to manage their Pirelli tires, he told Sky Sports F1 “he was overheating”.

He said, “I was working hard to live with Max at the beginning of the second term,” he said, “but I knew I was not going to be able to catch and we fell to the rock to the end.

“I was falling in a second lap in the last 15 laps, but to be fair, we did not just have speed and even if I managed more, I think I still came home in P5.

“We know that this is a weakness of our car at this time. And a bad day is coming home P5 – we will take it – but we need to improve and improve it quickly.”

Russell said the lack of performance was not due to the warm temperature on the track: “It is about how fast we are going from these corners, and whatever reason, we have produced higher temperatures than our rivals.

“Then suddenly you reach a point where tires are like a balloon. We blisters on the front, blisters backwards, and then suddenly you have no grip from the tire.”

It comes after a positive start for the 2025 season for Russell, who claimed three podiums in the first four Grands Prix, including a runner-up Finnish in Bahrain in the last weekend.

He said, “We need to understand why Bahrain was so positive, because it is an overheating track, but there is a very different type of overheating for what you experience in Jeddah here.”

“We had high expectations for the race for Bahrain today, and it turned out to be contrast.”
