Why 2025 MotoGP tilts 2024 to the engine for the engine

Ducati has decided to include 2024 engines on its 2025 Motogp bike for several reasons before this week’s Thailand Test.

During the three days of testing at the Sepong Circuit in Malaysia, both Markets and Bagania refused to reveal the engine specification ducked schemes when used in GP25 this year.

No manufacturer is happy to accept that last year’s engine is working better than new, as it will not give the fruit that has been done in recent months. This time, however, Ducati is doing so – although quietly – it was obtained with the previous version due to the results.

In addition to the performance, two other factors have contributed to the decision.

First, the pre-season test in 2025 has been much more condensed than the recent years, when there was usually a difference of two weeks between the two tests. This time, the bike will take the track to the track in Buriram, four days after the end of the sepang test. It leaves no space to return to your factories to work for manufacturers and new parts are ready for the next test.

Motorsport.com understands that the manufacturers were voted and decided on the format, although Ducati voted for two weeks for the traditional program, dividing the sepang and Thailand tests.

Furthermore, the new rules states that brands without concession benefits should symmette their engines in Thailand, in the first round of the year, and that their specifications should be frozen by the end of the 2026 season.

“We will develop 2024 bikes, and we will not use the entire 2025,” Dawkati team manager David Tardozi said on Friday. “The engine is one of the things we still have to decide.

“We want to become conservative, because this time, the engine freeze lasts for two years. We still have to re -test things, small developments, but signs have taken us to that 2024 engines. It is a bike making problem that offers such high performance. ,

In 2025, only three Ducati riders will have access to the new GP25 – Factory Team Riders Bagania and Markage, Plus VR46’s Fabio de Gionantonio. Meanwhile, Alex Markets, Fermin Aldegier and Franco Morbideli will compete on last year’s title winners GP24.
