When this family bought a house in Okland Hills, California, there was not much in the backyard with too much slope to encourage time to spend time. But what was the lack of useable space in the yard, it was designed for natural beauty, with a broad view under a hill of native oak and redwoods.
Seeing the ability of the site, the owners of the house listed Barry Sachar, the owner of the rock paper scissors’ landscape, to craft an external retreat, which would work in harmony with both their family’s needs and landscapes. “Embracing the existing natural landscape, removed the design,” is called Sachr. “It was and is still the star of the show.”
