The retired couple bought a colonial style home in Sterling, Massachusetts, close to their growing family and granddaughter on 4 acres. While they loved the classic architecture, they wanted to update neutral interiors of the house. A large focus was rebuilding the kitchen and its original honey oak cabinets, two-level peninsula, standard white devices and laminated countertops. Husband, a trained chef and owner of former restaurants, wanted enough space for preapping and serving. The wife was looking for some color for the cabinets and wanted to feel an elegant form and feel. He hired designer Ruth Burgstrom for help.
Bergstrom replaced the Anglend to-Tier Peninsula with a huge L-shaped peninsula that combines the work surface and seating. The updated devices in a more user-friendly layout enhanced the function, while a polish marble-loop for countertops and backplash combines quartz elegance and durability. Gray cabinets with microscopic green and blue undertones bring a soft and soothing experience.
