With three energetic boys, the owners of Georgia’s house wanted more open, functional layout to replace their aging kitchen and closed dining room. Husband, a skilled general contractor, was comfortable to do construction work; The wife had a lot of creative ideas. But the couple needed to help them to change their vision into a practical plan to fit their busy lifestyle and design the right layout.
They brought the designer Rosa Moreo and, after several modifications, the team removed a divided wall and pushed the kitchen into the previous breakfast area, with 72 square feet. The new layout made place for a large island with seating and storage. A silent green for the island is well contracted with soft white circumference cabinets. White oak flooring and warm wooden accents invited the texture, while marble-riques quartz counter and a herringbone porcelain tile backsplash soil, polish transitional design.

First: This picture of the former kitchen was taken from the area of breakfast. Dated 170-class feet were held on wallpapers, a sofit, mismatched standard equipment, dark brown cabinets, laminate counter, a sealing fan and vinyl floor. “There was a lot of wood and it was very heavy,” says Moreno. “The white fridge was also a problem sticking out. I knew that we could definitely do much better.”
On the left, a drop-in double-boule sink was sitting under a window that the owners of the house were open to remove the layout and storage. The fridge wall separated the kitchen from the dining room, making the kitchen and its small island tight. “But by removing that wall, we were getting rid of storage,” says Moreno. “So it was a big question of how things would work.”
The door seen behind opened in the hallway leading to the living room. The hallway had a powder room and door of the basement. A door of a closet is out of view on the wall of the fridge. “There were a lot of doors with which we had to deal with,” says Moreno.
He also took down the wall between the kitchen and the dining room, expanding the kitchen in the former breakfast nook, improved the flow 72 square feet and dramatically. The additional space allowed for a large custom island, which is painted in a silent, organic green with soft gray undertones. “It is a very neutral green that is hot at the same time,” says Moreno. “I like to place a place on the ground, so everything is not so white. Also, his favorite color is green. It took time to find the right green, and we went with this neutral because it is transitional but modern too.” Soft white custom inset with the perimeter brightens the cabinet room and contradicts slowly with the island. Satin bronze hardware adds a rich, polish touch in both.
Moreno placed the new farmhouse-style sink on the island and placed the new range where there was a sink. She took the refrigerator to the east of Kukkukop, resulting in a smart, safe layout. “I am not a great fan of a range in the island, especially when you have young children.” “Removing that sink window allowed us to put the boundary there as a focal point with the hood. She was afraid to lose light from that window, but now we are removing that wall and throwing light from the front of the house.”

Above the island, a 16 -inch brush brush brush brushed with apparent glass shades adds a stylish detail of brass vine -shaped pendant lights. LED sealing lights provide normal lights, while undercabinet lighting brightens the major function areas.

A custom paint-grade wooden hood with a white oak accent band is painted to match the periphery cabinet. A powerful hood insert helps prevent smoke and smell from flowing into nearby places. The backplash has a 2-by-6-inch white porcelain tiles placed in the herringbone pattern; The tiles have microscopic tone variations, a bright finish and frost white grout. “Everything here is very neutral, so it was important to bring that texture on the backplash,” says Moreno. “It is not outside the stick, but brings another element to the space. Some I also like about the tile that is shiny finish that reflects the light.”

First: There is a close look on the wall that divides the kitchen and dining room (appears through the door on the right). The white refrigerator seen in the earlier “first” photo was sitting in an empty cabinet frame. The aging white wall stood on the left side of a pair of oven which led to the previously mentioned closet mentioned. “It was a load-bearing wall,” says Moreno, “so we had to put in a beam.”
The inner side of the island is a streamlined setup with pullout garbage and recycling center on the left side, a classic white farmhouse sink and a cool, top-control stainless steel dishwasher with a classic white farmhouse sink and lineup with a dedicated base cabinet in the center.

The update ladder of the house on the back of the photo is on the second floor. “We removed another piece of the wall there to make the ladder area more open,” says Moreno.
10 Common kitchen layout mistakes and how to avoid them
“I am most proud that he trusted me and listened to my advice,” says Moreno. “Earlier, the kitchen was so dark that you could not wait to get out. Now they can entertain family and friends and all can be together.”
