Some time ago, we Asked our forums For questions about Canon’s V1 Vlogging Compact. Now that we have taken it to the studio and are able to spend some time with it, we can give you some answers. Let’s correct it.
Your questions
Are other frame rates available in 1.4X crop mode, or is it just 60p?
Currently, you can use 4K crop mode with only 50/60p.
What can you map to the rear command dial?
Not much, it seems. The only mode that I found that where it does anything is manual, where it adjusts the shutter speed. The only option for this in the “Customize Control Dial/Ring” menu is “STD” or “Off”.
Is a setting for minimum shutter speed in aperture priority mode?
Yes – You can set the minimum shutter speed manually, but there are 7 stages of “auto” mode. You can leave it by default, or it can be sharp/slow. it strictly It has been implemented, however – the camera will choose a shutter speed below your range if it is on the Max ISO, instead of reducing the image only. What is worth it, it is also how it works on EOS R5 II.
Will it work with Canon’s camera connect app for remote shooting?
I currently cannot add it to the camera connect, but the camera has a QR code that inspires you to download it.
Do the lens have filters thread?
As far as I can tell.
Does the screen slow down while recording 4K?
I allowed it to record it for about six minutes, and the screen was not slow. I am in a relatively quiet room, however, it is possible that it will work directly on a warm day in the sun.
What added for the couple accession is 1: 1 pixel mode when recording 4K 25/30?
It is not that I could find. A “digital zoom” mode is available for 1080p, but it is not able to be able to record in 4K.
Can the battery door be removed?
I do not see a clear way to remove it.
Does ND have any automatic mode?
Yes, but only in video mode, where you can close it, on and set it on auto. In photo mode, it is bus or closed.
What are the maximum recording time for 4K and 1080p?
Canon has a chart to explain this on its website, but here is the short (Ish) answer: with standard auto power of temperature settings, you can get 4K 30 of 55 minutes, and 4K 60 of 60 to get 45 minutes. If you set the auto power of temperature settings high, however, Canon “did not give any restriction” due to overheating in mode.
1080p footage, up to 60fps, no matter that there is no record limit on your auto power of settings.
Does the Fuzzy Microphone Cover hide the power button?
It took me a minute to find a power button. |
Okay, no one really asked this. But the answer is yes, which I think is a kind of funny, and that’s why I am including it here.
Remaining question
We will need a little more time with Powershot V1 to answer some of your questions, especially around image quality. For example, like questions:
- How is a dynamic range performance?
- How does digital video stabilization compare other cameras?
- How does photo IQ compare with other cameras?
We plan to insert the camera through our pace in the coming weeks, so stay for those questions and more answers.
A final note. Among all the unanswered questions, we got the most: Can you use an existing external EVF?
Canon created add-on viewers for cameras like Powershot G3X and EOS M6. They were designed to plug into the hotsho of the cameras that have a much different layout than the multi-function shoe of the powershot V1. Given the physical difference in the connectors, it is safe to say that they will not be compatible – we have checked with the canon, just to ensure, and if we hear back we will update this story.
For the possibility of future accessory, there is no word on the canon. However, the company’s tech specs page for V1 lists the following uses for multi-function shoes-what is there and not mentioned: “Most canon eL-series with speedlights and accessories, Canon DM-E1D Stereo Microphone, Canon Stereo Microphone, Canon Smartphone Link Adapter Edp 1, Cannon Multi-Function Flash On Canan Multi-Function Mourning Mourning There will be no synton.
