A videographer is sueing the city of Cincinnati, as he was refused to film the scene of the car accident.
For nearly three decades, a journalist and videographer Calvin Andras filed a case against Cincinnati and a police officer, who was involved in the end of the previous year.
The lawsuit revolves around an incident on 19 November 2023. Andras says he heard police radio traffic about a serious car accident at Spring Grove Avenue in Cincinnati. Videographers arrived and started registering police reactions with their video cameras.
Andras says that he was standing behind the police crime scene tape and recording postage after the deadly car accident when an officer asked him to leave. Andras says that he told the officer that he was a media representative and tried to hand over a card to list them to list the laws that allow them to record the sequences of the crime.
In the trial, Andras alleged that the officer arrested him, in handcuffs, and put behind a squad car. The videographer says that he was left in the cruiser for more than 30 minutes, where he had an nervous attack and chest pain. He was then rushed to a hospital where he stayed overnight.
Police later accused Andras of obstructing the official business, but the prosecutors dismissed the charge in June, Reports AP News,
Andras is now sueing the city for damage to emotional crisis, pain and pain, medical expenses and punitive damage. He accuses the city and an officer of false arrest and malicious prosecution.

In his trial, Andras also wants the police to wrongly arrest journalists and stop the police from stopping public reach to new incidents.
“We think there is a big principle here,” says Goodin. “The idea that this pushback is going to be on the views of crime on public roads … it is really a cool effect and discourages people from covering these types of stories.”
