Venus Lava has just released 15 mm F/4.5 1: 2 macro lenses which are available for Nikon Z, Canon EF, Sony E, Nikon F, Canon RF and L-Mounts. Venus is known to make a variety of unique macro lenses, and it is one more 15 mm F/4.5 macro. It has a maximum magnification of 1: 2, which will give your macro shots a different look at 15 mm.

The new lens has five aperture blades and 16 elements in 11 groups. Two of those elements are aspherical elements, and it is considered well correct for deformation, possibly makes it usable for architecture and very broad-angle landscapes, not just for macro photography.
Of course, the best aspect of this lens is its 15 mm focal length, which makes a much different forms compared to the specific 50–100 mm macro lens. The extension tube is often difficult to use on wide angle lens, so it is one of the few ways to realize such a look. This new lava lens has a distance of 36 mm (1.4 ″) from the front element on maximum magnification.
What is the difference between this lens and lava Old 15 mm F/4 macro for DSLRThe most obvious is that the old lens has gone all the way for 1: 1 magnification, while this lens only reaches 1: 2. There was also an unusual feature of adding shift capabilities when using the lens on the APS-C camera in the old lens.
Although you sacrifice 1: 1 magnification with a new lens, you also get a weight savings (410 grams below 308 grams) and a length saving (64.6 mm below 64.6 mm below). In addition, MSRP is below $ 499 below $ 399. Whether an image quality has improved, it remains to be seen, but it will not surprise me.
Overall, I would say that the new lens can be most suitable, unless you plan before 1: 2. For frogs, butterflies and medium -sized flowers, which should be enough, but those who actually crave the most magnification, still want to see the old lens.
I have to accept, I would like to try this lens and I can get a copy of myself. I already have one of Venus’ 2x macro lens and has actually been affected by its performance, and I hope this new lens will be quite good.
If you want to get a copy, its expected availability date is 22 May, and you can pre-order it for $ 399 with these links below in B&H photos to support photography life!
