UnitedHealth reacts to arrest of suspect in CEO murder


A suspect in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last week was taken into custody in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on Monday. The person of interest has been identified as 26-year-old Luigi Mangione.

UnitedHealth Group, parent company of unitedhealthcare The insurance branch told Fox Business:

“Our hope is that today’s apprehension will bring some comfort to Brian’s family, friends, colleagues and the many others affected by this unspeakable tragedy.

“We thank law enforcement and will continue to work with them on this investigation.

A McDonald’s employee reportedly recognized Mangione and called local authorities. According to Mangione’s LinkedIn page, he is employed at TrueCar Inc. and attended the University of Pennsylvania.

On December 4, Thompson, 50, was on his way to the company’s annual investor day in New York City when he was shot and killed outside the New York Hilton around 6:44 a.m. He was taken to the hospital where he died.

The NYPD led the investigation and confirmed Friday that they believe the suspect has left Manhattan. The FBI then joined the operation and released fresh photos of the person of interest throughout the weekend.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said at a press conference on Monday, “The identification we are looking for matches his description” and that he had “numerous items that we believe may identify him.” Will be linked to this incident.”

At the briefing, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenney also did not reveal an official motive, but said, “It appears he has some ill will toward corporate America.”
