Ultra-Patli Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Hands-on

Samsung looks to trim some fat and returns to an age when smartphones may again be immoral thin. This is briefly the Galaxy S25 Edge. Samsung’s latest premium device is the lightest that it has built over the years.

Samsung laid this phone on a large scale after launching the Galaxy S25 series of Galaxy S25 series in January 2025. Only the clear point was that it would be a thin tool. Now that everything is discovered, it is clear that the design is the primary focus.

A thin statement

Samsung is positioning the S25 age as a premium model between the Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra. Why this is not just launching the lead instead of S25+, especially it is not clear, especially since it starts at $ 1,200 for 256GB variants ($ 1,350 for 512GB). Given that you can find S25+ to $ 1,000 – or even under $ 900 – the price increase is even more noticeable, although it is also not clear that the tariff has anything to do with it. The rest of the S25 series have been manufactured in India, and it is likely that it will also happen.

Catching the Galaxy S25 Edge, its mild construction is clear. Weighing in 163 grams, it is only one gram heavy compared to the Galaxy S25, the smallest of the chain. This, despite using 6.7-inch dynamic AMOLED 2X screen as S25+. A difference is that it does not have Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection, a new type of reinforced glass ceramic material available on any other devices of Samsung. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2, seen in the rest of the S25 series, retains the security.

The rest of the dimensions originally mirrors the S25+, save to the thin profile. Taking it down from 7.3 mm to 5.8 mm, the S25 edge bites a thin figure, but the slightly raised camera bump adds a little extra. 5.8 mm metric is based on how deep in the rest of the body. Titanium helps to keep the edges losing weight, this time the S25 is taking hints from ultra. The body also shares IP68 security as others.

The only real difference is from the perspective of storage hardware. Otherwise, it is 12 GB RAM with the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Processor under the hood. Functionally, you can expect the same biometrics, from facial identification to ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Unfortunately there is no S pen support, so it is more conforming to S25+.

On the software side, nothing really changes, either. Samsung guarantees seven years of Android and security updates, aligning with the rest of the S25 lineup.

Two modern smartphones, one black and one silver, are shown overlapping with their back. Each phone contains two rear cameras that are vertically aligned in the top left corner. A brick wall is blurred in the background.

Bottom to shape things

The S25 age requires sacrifice, and the most pronounced telephoto lens is removing. Going with a dual rear camera setup, this phone has more common with inexpensive and medium-range models in that phone. To compensate for damage, the Samsung S25 from the Ultra to the 200-megapixel main camera and the 12-megapixel ultra-wide from the S25+to the edge. Company figures that shoot at full resolution – or even 50 megapixels – distributes cropped photos quite well for any optical zoom deficiency.

While I had time with the device in the studio space, there was nothing that I could capture to test the cameras. A full review will truly follow gauge outputs in petapixel. As it is, we can insight what other phones are capable of doing, so this is not all that S25 will take better photos than the edge. You can shoot 50-megapixels or pixel-bind 12-megapixels using the main sensor. Expert Raw is available, as the camera app has extra mode, so Samsung is not doing anything new from that point of view.

A smartphone camera shows a close-up of green leaves and branches with real leaves and branches in the screen background. The camera interface shows settings such as flash and 200m resolution.

Not surprisingly, AI has been depicted more prominently here with nothing on this device. Whatever other S25 models can do, it applies here, including photo editing and generic AI content.

Other major cuts stems from the battery. Where the S25+ and S25 Ultra have a battery of 4900mAh and 5000mAh respectively, the S25 Edge has a significant 3900mAh battery. It is close to the Galaxy Z Flip 6 (4000mAh), although it is used to accommodate its flip design without unique partition formation. I compare because the battery life is not great on that device, and since the edge has a high-resolution display, it will be interesting to see how it plays here.

The phone still supports QI2 wireless charging and reverse wireless charging, so nothing changes there. However, it is maximum at 25W wired charging, which is a downgrade from 45W, the rest can handleup.

Shore

The Galaxy S25 Edge comes in two colors: titanium jetblack and titanium silver. The finish on both is mostly matte, but enough for a sheen that either makes one susceptible to fingers. Nevertheless, here is a delicious design that gives this phone a different look.

Is the loom big, it is finally for whom. Perhaps Samsung’s market research reflects the demand for some thin and light, except bringing in this way, in addition to bringing some confusion in already crowded conditions. Where a Galaxy FE phone combines components together for a price option, the edge is doing it for premium. There are already three S25 flagship variants to start.

Two Samsung smartphones are kept shoulder to shoulder on a white surface. Both have double rear cameras that are vertically aligning in the top left corner. One phone is gray and the other is black.

The last time Samsung used “Age” Monikar for anything when he introduced a curved display a decade ago. They are no longer in circulation, and the phones are only thicker because it requires hard glass, better image sensor, lens, large battery, and more sophisticated internal.

It remains to be seen whether it is starting the tendency of “thin and light” phone standing as a sub-class. Some models of foreign brands are also testing the same concept, such as Techno Spark Slim I saw at the Mobile World Congress, which measured a single thin 5.75 mm. I was most impressed, it managed to charge it in a small frame with 45W charge in a 5200mAh battery – using the same size screen. Meanwhile, Realme has a prototype phone that is 8.5 mm thin, with a huge 10000mAh battery. They remain concepts for now, but it can change in time.

Appropriate tests will also indicate how the thin body of the S25 edge handles heat and cool. Snapdragon 8 Elite Draw Power-like running a high-end chipset, and it is known to run hot compared to previous chips. My hand time did not include serious tests in that way, as no third-party app was installed.

Pricing and availability

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is now available for pre -order and will be available on May 30. The smartphone starts at $ 1,200 for the 256GB version.
