Tommy Fury has canceled his boxing fight with Darren Till after the MMA star threatened to resort to the rules of his own sport if he starts losing. The former Love Island star and undefeated professional boxer was set to make his long-awaited return to the ring on January 18.
The main event of Misfits Boxing was scheduled to see Fury face off against UFC star Till. However, the two were forced to part ways during a tense press conference, in which Till stated that he would be prepared to give Fury a head kick if he found himself in a losing position.
That threat was enough for Fury to cancel the fight. He is expected to find a new opponent.
the 25-year-old wrote Instagram: “I can’t believe I’m writing this but I’m no longer fighting Darren Till on January 18, 2025. The simple reason for this is that Darren has repeatedly said that he will abide by professional boxing rules. Doesn’t want to obey and if he is losing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.
“I’m a professional boxer, I’ve been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great boxing fight for the fans. I’ve wasted weeks in training camp.
“We are working hard to find a new opponent and date. I promise to bring better opponents for you guys and fight better battles. There is good news all around.
Till responded by claiming that he was only trying to sell the fight to the fans and that he was not going to kick Fury. He finished a post on X by calling out Jake Paul, who recently defeated boxing legend Mike Tyson.
Till wrote, “Tommy Fury you are the biggest traitor I have ever met in my life, never call yourself a fighter.”
“I was selling fights so me and you could make more money, you absolutely empty minded family, my ass, you and your father are fighting in the house. I don’t need to kick ass, you’re being sparked, you’re crazy.
“We were making bank on this fight, because not you, I was making it, you should fight and thank me… over and over again… no one wants to fight me… Jake Paul, you What are you doing, you big fat fool? ,
