Tiktok time in the US may run out, but the company has a dramatic plan to protect itself. Social media giant is allegedly creating a new version of its app for users in the United States, according to a report Information On Sunday, which cited anonymous sources.
This new app, who was reportedly named “M2”, is being developed before a planned sale of US -operated US operations. According to the report, the company has a temporary plan to launch M2 at the US App Store in early 5 September.
If the plan proceeds, 170 million American users of Ticketkok will eventually have to download the new M2 app to continue using the service. The current version of the app will continue to work with the new until the expectation of stopping the functioning in March 2026, although the report notes are subject to the report change.
This step seems to be a direct response to immense political pressure. Last month, President Donald Trump extended the deadline for selling his US property on 17 September for Tikkok’s China -based original company, bidence.
