Walk by a farmer market in summer and you will definitely attract a stand with the sweet smell of strawberries. This is the time of the year when small red jewels are scarlets with all the tastes and through burst.
Always looking for ways to find seasonal in my cocktail, I started tampering with some of my favorite strawberry taste combinations. The result is that this summer takes the classic whiskey smash. Strawberries are hit with lemon to create a juicy base, then a little strawberry syrup is added to a little sweetness and to balance the sharpness of the lemon. Balsmic acts as bits, and then certainly a heavy pouring of boorbon is added, because what is a smash without bombon?
The result is a crimson cocktail that tastes as bold as color. Strawberries and borbans work together to create a rich and intense sweetness that is cut by lemon and balsamic. This is the kind of cocktail that doubles you but it drinks embarrassing easily.
