National Economic Council director Kevin Haset discussed the latest job reports, firing of labor statistics head and consumer impact of tariff on ‘Fox News Sunday’.
National Economic Council Director Kevin Haset supported President Donald Trump on Sunday Decision to set fire The head of the Labor Statistics (BLS), citing an alleged “biased pattern” in US job data reporting.

Haset accused BLS of lack of transparency, stating that the bureau did not make any detailed explanation of the August 2024 amendment.

“Instead, they have this small black box that takes the numbers around and surprises people, sometimes with biased patterns. And so I think what we want is a fresh set of eyes in BLS, someone who can clean this thing,” Haset said.
The Economic Advisor of the White House referred to his speech at the 2015 BLS seminar, where he spoke about modernization on the 100th anniversary of the Consumer Expenditure Survey.
“I talked about how the data cannot be publicized,” Haset said. “Data should be something that you can trust because the decision makers in the entire economy trust that they can build a factory because they believe, or cut interest rates because they believed. And if the data is not so good, it is a real problem for America and right now, the data has become very unreliable with these massive modifications in the last few years.
BLS said on Friday that 74,000 jobs were added in JulyBelow 110,000 estimates of economists voted by LSEG. The report also amended job development in May and June. The May profit was returned to 125,000 to 19,000 jobs, while the June figures were revised from 133,000, which was included in just 14,000 jobs that month.

“It is really important that putting our eyes on the horizon and the eyes on the horizon are actually looking at the smooth sailing,” Haset said. “When I first saw big amendments, which were, the greatest amendments, the greatest modifications, then were going back all the way for 50 years, if we exclude the years, when I saw those modifications I felt it should be a typo. That I have never seen a modification like this.”
Haset argued that Trump’s “Bada, Beautiful Bill” would offset any impact of tariffs on the US economy and increase the average family income to $ 10,000.
He said, “The Congress Budget Office has said that we are watching about three trillions in the new tariff in the United States. This is something that is actually going to help us balance the budget. And all inflation numbers are less than in five years,” he said.
He also supported the President’s call for the new leadership in the bureau.

Haset said, “They have to go back to Zero and see why the number is getting so incredible.” So we have got the BLS numbers that they are actually not really much better during Kovid, and we need to understand why. And so I think the President has the right to call for the new leadership. I think Erica is a terrible person, but I think it’s time for someone to reach there and fix it because these numbers are very important. “
