Former arrows and Lotus F1 driver faced a terrible incident in the gerase when his car suspension failed during practice and crashed into a wall at an estimated 160mph, in which his lotus burst into half.
Pitt’s character returns to the F1 grid after three decades of surviving death in an accident similar to Sunny Hayes Donley and at the premiere of London, A-Lister thanked the former driver for “putting his energy and guidance” in the film.
Donley told the BBC that it was a “pinch of himself” moment: “I said ‘is he talking to me, is he referring to me?’ This is one of the memories that I will cherish for life.
Although the footage is manipulated, the 1990 accident that Donley took place in the film was used in the film. His car disintegrated against a hurdle after a high-speed collision, causing injuries to his right leg, making his F1 career effectively eliminated.

Donley described the experience of viewing the accident on the big screen as “real”.
“It was only something that I could appreciate. The surgeon said that the surgeon said,” This is – you will not run the F1 car again. ” Donley explained. “But he does not know the mind of a racing driver. We are stubborn and firm and selfish.”
A few years later, he again fell behind the wheel, although it was only a demonstration.
“On 23 February 1993, I drove a Jordan car around the silverstone and I was pledging to say to my surgeons that you know your books, but you don’t know me, and I am here,” he said.
