In recent years, my photography has bent forward and forward. This beautifully functional sling bag is the right match, as has been proved by a recent holiday for the West Coast of America.
In May 2025, I flew from France to California, which, a friend’s wedding (uninterrupted, if the US government ever reads it), colliding with the beach, climbing some mountains and detecting deserts. Traveling with checked goods makes flights very expensive, which limits me to 26 lb (12 kg) carry-on bag and a personal item, so keeping this in mind, I wrote to Belroy a few weeks before my journey, whether they can send me if they can send me. Venture camera sling 10lMy wanded hexad (closed) would be the perfect carry-on for overhead compartment, and the sling looked as an ideal companion to keep the hand closer to the hand.
A year ago, I bought myself Belroy Sling MiniThe smallest sling bag in their range, cleanly seduced and a simple design that dramatically reduces its profile when it is not packed. The shoulder strap compresses each end of the bag to compress the overall volume. In short, it is large when it needs to grow up, while the rest of the time it remains compact.
The venture camera does not offer the same level to the sling compression, but it seemed to offer size and versatility, and Belroy sent me a bag to his favorite color, Ranger Green.

Belroy has described “Baida Nylon” as “durable, water-resistant repostop fabric”, and has drawn this through the brutally thick granite boulder of Joshua tree national park for three days, I can definitely confirm its ability for some treatment. The desert did not lend itself well to test how well it stands for rain, but I would definitely be comfortable to take it out in a downpore, especially looking at the lining on the zippers. It is worth noting that Belroy (AB Corp) recycled nylons made of industrial offcuts, and their polyester recyclass comes from water bottles.
Sling falls into two categories: those who hold their size (such as the overwhelming majority of camera sling) and which are sequer. One of my bags, Peak design everyday sling Is in the first category; It is not a completely rigid shell, but it is designed so that its form is consistent, no matter what you are carrying. It assures you that your gear is preserved, but the flipcide is that whenever it is not packed for capacity, you will carry a large bag of air with you. As a result, my 6-liter everyday sling can sometimes feel like a fruit, and hardness means that the small may be disturbed to reach the front pocket.
Venture Sling is a crumpler. As a result, it does not seem that it provides quite equal level protection, but padding is enough that I never felt worried, and I appreciate the business.
The strap is comfortable and easy to adjust, either can be removed at the end (although I do not know what), and each side of each buckle is the metal while the other is plastic. The website claims that it can be adjusted with one hand, but I have never managed it, and I struggled to change while wearing it. Of course, I can do it wrong.
The way it connects to the bag is simple. Belroy has described the attachment as a “self-compressing gassets” that adjusts your load, and connected with a sequeling design, which means the bag has a low profile when there is no heavy laden, thereby it is better suited to everyday use.
The lease easily accepts Peak Design Capture Camera ClipBut the angle means that you will not be able to slide the camera vertically in place, as you use a dedicated strip of materials on the peak design slings bag.
There is no grab handle.
On the underruside, you will find a pair of viosable carry straps, which is ideal for a tripod or jacket. They are light and quite basic, and although they do not feel as premium as the rest of the bag, they are functional and simple to adjust.
the interior
The main compartment is accessed through a double-ended zipper, and a generous opening means that a camera can be taken out or replaced with one hand. The compartment is divided into three by two divider, and while they are stitched and cannot be removed, they offer some flexibility; Both can be pushed to each end of the bag to make divider on the right folds to make a large, single box, and a shelf. These dividers are not rigid anywhere as other sling bags, which facilitates the crumpling design described above, but provide low protection. Then, I never felt worried.
Each end of the bag has an elastic slip pocket, which easily adjusts a large filter or sunglasses case. There is a small zip pocket that runs horizontally under the main zip, again enough for sunglasses, and camera with more stretch pockets for battery or memory card cases.
In particular, there is no internal pockets that use the entire height of the bag, and internal divider apply some rigid restrictions if you want to carry a tablet. Forget about carrying anything larger than an ipad mini, and there is nothing to divide a tablet to capture the main compartment. Fortunately, for my visit, I only had my old school kindle; Otherwise, it could push me towards a small messenger bag instead of a sling.
The other zip on the exterior of the bag provides you with access to another, slimmer compartment, which is enough to adjust an iPhone easily, and perhaps enough to accept an iPhone Pro Max. There is a cord with a plastic clip to attach two stretch pockets and keys to small objects. Unlike other slings, I never felt that I had to fight to go to this compartment, however, of course, it becomes more difficult with the bag filling.
In use
For flight, I had my main camera safely overhead in its hexad, freeing the sling for a bottle of water, notebooks, kindle, a pen, my Olymps xa, various cables, a power BankAnd my travel documents. The front pocket is the perfect size for passports and boarding passes, and various internal pockets kept my small objects well organized.
For marriage, I was not taking much: My Sony A7 III with Samyang 35 mm F/1.8 And this Soni Nifty fiftyA Blower brushAnd my Olympus XA with some additional rolls of the film. There were many rooms. This will be a squeeze, but I think you will be able to accommodate a large camera body with a 24-70 mm lens, as well as a soulful wide angle zoom and a fast Prime.
In the desert, Slinga supplemented as well as a complement of a ruckusak when discovered out, offered quick access to all my gear.
The best bag that I have ever owned?
High appreciation, no doubt, and it is due to the type of type of bag. I have added a level of convenience and minimalism by my own different slings because my photography has moved from events and sometimes from commercial shoots to more casual delians with film and exploration.
Belroy Sling can suit me perfectly, but this is also because it is carefully designed, made from hard-wiring and beauty. It is comfortable to wear, and ease of access makes it simple to use it. This bag is correct everyday carry, stretched internal pockets, and low profile when combined with the versatility of the divider, carrie strips, stretched interior pockets, and low profiles.
