The automakers get 1 month tariff discount, called White House


American vehicle manufacturers complying with the United States-Maxico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) are receiving a month off from Trump Administration Tariff Monday, White House Press Secretary Karolin Levitt announced on Wednesday.

“The mutual tariffs will still be applicable on 2 April, but at the request of companies associated with USMCA, the presidents are giving them discounts for a month, so they are not in economic loss,” said Lewet.

He told reporters that Stelantis, Ford and General Motors were companies talking to Trump.

“He requested the call. He asked and the President is happy to do it,” Lavit said. “This is a one -month discount.”

In mid -February, Trump signed an executive order to implement mutual tariffs on American business partners, effectively extended duties on imports to match those on the US exports.

The Trump administration aims to complete its trade review by 1 April and plans to target what it first says to “arrogant” issues, including the highest tariff rates on countries with large trade surplus countries and American goods with the US.

The President’s tariffs will match the high tariff rates of other countries and will compete with other business obstacles such as cumbersome rules, value -added taxes, government subsidy and exchange rate policies and interact with some countries to reduce those obstacles.
