I found out about it – read about the Soviet Union, Uganda, etc. in a political economy class in college at Berkeley, taught by a guy from Bechtel through the Berkeley engineering department. At the time, he said the black market value of slave labor gold mining was booming. Just a few days ago, my husband told me that a German torpedo or bomb passed right over an American battleship and as the sailors below were scrambling to get it off the ship, one noted that it was a war of slavery. Was built in Czech at the time and apparently, builder slaves made sure it didn’t work. How would Russia steal African gold, while Africans themselves still illegally owned and traded slaves and gold, against world consensus? Although, I’d like to see Russia try…haha.
