Steel lighting grid brightens the monochromatic miss sixty store in Milan

The designers used a monochromatic color palette for the surface of the two-storey shop, which would miss the main retail location of the sixty.

“We wanted to use soft, neutral colors on the ground floor, such as sand, skin tone and travertine,” NM3’s Chief Creative Officer Francesco Jorzi told Dezeen.

While the ground-floor space has mostly neutral colors and touch details such as beige curtains, these are steel and mirror fitting and contrast from a bright yellow wall that mark the changing room area of ​​the store.

The color is an indication for the space below, which customers reach below a travertine ladder.

NM3 and Guerini drenched this basement room, which would be used to host events, in color with a yellow resin floor.

The vibrant hue, which is the brand color of Miss Sixty, is associated with a neutral gray -colored plaster that serves as a background for any kind of event or activation, “Lorzi explained.

Lighting also played a big role in the design of the shop.

On the ground floor, square metal lights are suspended from the roof in the grid system, while another custom-made gried-made lighting design was used for the basement.

“The lighting system is a fully customized design designed by NM3 with Silvia Guerini,” said, “said Jorzi.

“It has deepened LED light source, a steel frame and u glass, a unique feature that separates this product, as U glass is usually used to manufacture facades instead of products,” they continued.

“In the basement, to have a layout similar to light on the ground floor, we have designed a suspended steel grid that allows the lighting to be deployed independently despite the very large systems on the roof.”

NM3 and Gurini also made pieces of several custom-made steel furniture for the shop, according to their normal process.

“In all our projects, we especially work with raw materials,” Jorzi said.

“We want to avoid glue or welding at all costs, so all steel laser cuts and dry are assembled, as are other materials characterized by the project, such as amber glass, travertine and felt.”
