ARTA Architects has designed Tai Kwun chairs for the Hong Kong Jockey Club, providing a more comfortable and modular seating solution for these stairs.
The chairs complement the distinctive design languages of the ancient and contemporary architecture of the Tai Kwun Arts and Cultural Centre.
The gracefully curved form of each chair is ergonomically designed for comfort and inspired by the floating boxes of new architecture and the roofs of historic buildings.
The use of different colored sustainable woods creates a gradient pattern that perfectly balances the need for an iconic design while harmonizing with its surroundings.
A special locking system ensures that each chair can be easily installed and removed to ensure ultimate flexibility in seating arrangements for large-scale performances, small group gatherings and passers-by looking for a moment of solitude .
Each chair is designed to be easily put together to create an instant piece of art, whilst ensuring they can be stored in a space-saving and efficient manner.
