Mark Allen has taken issue with some of Shaun Murphy’s comments during his UK Championship semi-final defeat to Barry Hawkins.
Murphy criticized Allen’s slow play and alleged gamesmanship, with only the world number three responding directly on social media.
He wrote:
“It’s probably best to keep personal feelings out of the commentary box. Simply because I rejected some of his recent comments. This isn’t the first time that Shawn has said something that doesn’t make much sense to make headlines, is it? I think he should remain impartial in the commentary box.
“Snooker is not that easy when you are not at your best. It is very easy to sit in the commentary box. I don’t get involved in things like that, but I play to win and play within the rules. “If I’m not feeling my best I’m not going to go out there at full strength. Maybe you’ll understand why Shawn loses so many matches that he should be winning.
“I didn’t go into that match trying to slow things down, not at all. I try to pot every ball I see and clear the table whenever I get a chance.
