What happened? Thanks to an ideal strategy, the Schubert-BMW driver was already second at the 15th position on the grid, when the second stop went wrong.
Rast’s stop took 9.281 seconds due to problems at both front and left corners, while the following pack, including Jules gounon, Jordan Lee Paper And Thomas prepating Two seconds were sent faster and became past.
“The moment you’re very early on the wheel gun, so you can’t take the walnut back,” explained by Schubert-BMW’s Principal Torson Schubert. “This is the first time in this situation that it has not worked a lot. We win and lose as a team.”
The wheel was not correctly deployed on the center lock, which meant that the walnut was not catching and the mechanic had to push it. This is an additional time cost.
Rast can fully understand the emotional response of its mechanic. “People train a lot, they put their heart and soul in it. And when one or two of them are responsible for podium or no podium, they naturally take it with them. Without that other pit stop, we must have finished second.”

How did the rest manage to return to the track after the first pit stopped behind the final winner Ahankan GuenPit Kru also played a decisive role here.
“If we start from the 15th place, we have the right to choose our tires,” they say, referring to the rule that only the top 10 must start the qualification on the tire. So Schubert team opted for the last remaining brand-new set of tires for Rast and Team Mate Marco WitmanWho finished sixth.
“This made us a great benefit to those who did not have new tires, and so we made our way through the field,” the rest explained. “I was around the tenth place after the first lap, and the top ten had to stop quickly because they no longer had good tires. I can ride for a long time with new tires – and ride fast for a long time.”

As the race surfaced, a major group was involved in a direct duality after their stop, while RAST had a clear track. When he came shortly before the end of the First Stop Window, his crew managed a 6.518 seconds magnificent pit stop time.
Only one other driver stopped fast: Schubert Team-Mate Witman, in 6.241 seconds.
The stop meant that Rast was suddenly in second place, but was unable to maintain with the speed of Güven as he had a use of tires on the car. “Everyone around him was on new tires – and then you are on the border,” Schubert explained.
Finally, Rast opted for a qualified tire from Saturday. “But it did not make me no good,” says the rest. “There were less 20 laps on it, and in principle in front of me should have been five to seventh faster than those in front of me, but we were still not fast.”
For the balance of performance in DTM, Rast concluded that they result in, “We really have the speed that we have compared to others.” Finally, he is satisfied with the fifth place after qualifying on Saturday, saying “I think we must have signed it before the weekend”.
