“This is what people do not see from outside. Like, we had a rivalry on our first year in Formula 1 in Toro Roso, but it was a relatively healthy rivalry in him and my case, the way we used to go about racing. And now we really meet well.
“So, if this is why I do not understand why they do not want me next to Max, because I think we will actually become a very strong pair in Formula 1.”

Sainz participated for Verustapain for the entire 2015 season and the first four races in the next year. Verustapane excluded Sainz in 2015, finishing more than 30 points forward in the year, and ended over the next year in the first four races.
