Ryunosuke Okazaki is doing all this wrongly. Starting from 13 September, the 30 -year -old designer will have a one -month long exhibition that will be dedicated to his work at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Usually designers have to wait until they die for such respect. And here is the real kicker: Okazaki has never sold a single item of clothes that prepared.
As Rorschachch PRINTS created fashion, their work is made through a process, which prefers for designer prayer, and is inspired by the animalic spirituality of the peaceful zomone period of Japan, especially its pottery. The V&A showcase, called Jomonjoman, marks the designer’s European debut, but is not global: one of the Okazaki dresses was selected for the Met Museum’s “Sleeping Beauty” exhibition last year, and he has demonstrated his work performances in Hong Kong and Beijing.
This is the latest collection, which is his largest in 29 yet, and his first in a year marks a twist point. To explain the development, Okazaki held a special walkthrough at his home in Tokyo, where he prepared a small army of effigies that looked like Cosmic gods. Great curves flowed on human forms in gold, mint and black color. Other pieces were cherry blossom pink, finished in two curved points that crossed on the legs, or expanded like a flower or a foreign exoskeleton from the body.
Where Okajaki’s clothes are made of most linear structures thus so far, this time there were more clothes and draping, slowly turned their work towards real wearing. “I was thinking about preparing for some time, and I am finally progressing on it,” he said. The collection also includes his first accessories: Vibram-Sold Chelsea boots are decorated with impure leather ignores on the sides, and black and burgundy handbags that curve in smiling idols. He is currently working on an e-com site to provide them to purchase. And although she has opposed the traditional show schedule of the first fashion (this collection is officially a title of 004, not SS26), Okazaki also said that she intends to start creating a seasonal collection.
This year is the 80th anniversary of the atomic bomb attack on the designer’s hometown Hiroshima. “I think it is a good time for people around the world to think what happened there. I hope (my work) will give people a chance to think, even though just a bit, and I think it’s important that we say that war is meaningless.”
Okazaki’s sunlight gathered in the living room, his creations took to an astronomical appearance, such as a more enlightened time had landed on Earth to keep a council of intelligent and ancient beings in court. “I intend to create a sense of power of life,” he said.
