August Editors’ Photo Challenge
Topic for us August Editors’ Photo Challenge The “road trip” was, and we asked you to share your favorite moments on the open highway or road trip adventure.
You took us to a wild ride, with photographs from all over the world, from the vast details of the Arabian Peninsula to a frozen Mongolian Lake. Each image is a will of the spirit of adventure that promoted your journey. As always, we were overwhelmed by brilliant photos – many more we can present here. Our favorite, performing a diverse category of vision and talent, are presented in random order.

Avenue de Baobab in Madagascar

Photographer’s statement: Traveling around Madagascar, most people stop at Avenue de Baobab to take the dirt road between Morondawa and Tsingi de Bamraha National Park to take a dirt road.
On leaving in 2001, it was our first trip with a digital SLR camera, with the Canon D30, its 3 megapixel sensor, which was considered spectacular at that time, as well as a voluminous IBM 340 MB Micro CF Drive and A Minds@Work 6 GB Digitalweight, some 2000 images were allowed more than 500 as compared to 500. It is fun to see how much expansion and clarity can be extracted from those old raw files using modern software.

Photographer’s statement: The clouds of the hurricanes decoction overhead in the form of a straight road to India, the air flowing, spread over the barren land and disappears in the horizon. This picture was taken a few kilometers before the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers. The rain stopped, although the angry clouds gathered overheads for another attack on the ground. After seeing several pictures of Leh highway with an empty road in the horizon, I was also willing to take one. I deliberately placed the broke tent in the frame to highlight their appearance between the difficult situations and desolation of the landscape.

Photographer’s statement: A fearless explorer found his way through a royal tibba of Rab al -Khali (or empty quarter), which is one of the most desolate places on the planet.

Frozen lake driving on khovsgol

Photographer’s statement: In 2012, I traveled to the northern part of Mongolia, Khovsgol Lake to see the Mongolia Winter Festival. It was very strange to cross the lake because it was a very silent drive, and wherever we saw, we all saw that snow, snow and no sign or reading. This picture was taken when we stopped for a break while crossing the lake.

Photographer’s statement: We were on a road and rail journey through China and visited the Indradhanush mountain, where you meet around the bus. Here we were looking down on the road because it was injuring its way around the mountains because the bus went with a bus.

Photographer’s statement: Gigi and I Pack Members are waiting for JP. She is making provisions. The dinner will be a thick stake cooked above the fire, but we have another hour for our destination and camp. Ten days of this journey. I am loving it, but it is taking its toll.

High atlas road trip

Photographer’s statement: On top of the high Atlas mountain in Morocco and on the wind road, this stitch panorama was taken on the day of the devastating 2023 earthquake and its subscription. Fortunately, we were in the Sahara Desert when it was a hit just before midnight!

Togavoti Pass Highway

Photographer’s statement: A mid-October 2023 morning view of the Grand Tetten was seen just below the Togwote Pass Lodge on the US Highway 26-287 between Dubois and Moran, Vyoming. That month I had the beginning of my road trip to see the Eclipse of the Sun.

Scotland

Photographer’s statement: My wife and I traveled to 24-day road via Ireland, Scotland and England. Humming because his ancestor from Scotland to America, and from Ireland. We both felt deep roots emotional relations. Close to Glenko in Scotland, this herd of Scottish Blackfase lamb delayed our driving for 45 minutes. Two border collies were bending the herd, but there was no request to remove them from the road.

Photographer’s statement: My wife and I covered more than 20 states during a 5700 mile road trip. The lake was one of more than 30 lakes, about 10 miles from the Canadian border and a dozen rivers we had paddled. This road trip celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary in 2014. At that time, we were both in the late 60s, and one of dozens we took together in 50 years. Life is very small, go out and do something!

Photographer’s statement: I was going home in the Snake River ground in Idaho when this rainbow appeared across the road. I could not take the entire scene in a frame, so I took six shots and merged them as a panorama in Photoshop. I corrected the perspective as much as I was capable.

Photographer’s statement: My husband and I were visiting Yelostone National Park. At the end of a day, we were going back to our campsite in stop-end-go traffic, when the line was cut in front of us, we were so easily wondered if it was his routine. My first DSLR, a canon 70D, and a canon EF-S 15–85 mm lens were captured via Windshord.

Mongolia

Photographer’s statement: Stopping to hit the outhouse, we saw the car out of the gas at a small gas station in the middle of Western Mongolia. (Everything does not seem anywhere outside the capital of Ullanbatar, where half the population lives.) They were waiting to fill, and the car would not start when one was pulled in front of him.

Driving through highlands

Photographer’s statement: This photo was taken through Iceland’s Highlands at around 1:00 am during an all-night road trip. It was not really unforgettable to experience such a remote location and take photos.
This photo was taken from a drone, including the main challenge to find the right composition to capture this epic place, while at the same time it is included for the scale and perspective for my car. Blue Lite worked beautifully with my exposure settings, allowing me to express the mood of the moment, to the blue sky away from dark volcanoes.

Memorial valley in our way

Photographer’s statement: This is the first time we visited the memorial valley. Even before reaching the park, we saw impressive structures of rocks. It was also good to meet some local people there.

Photographer’s statement: This year in spring, I was chasing northern lights in Iceland. When the weather was not promising, I was hitting the road for a better place. However, bad weather often gives the best shots. This photo was made close to Jopivogur, a small town in Eastern Fojds, in which the winds bark and rain.

Photographer’s statement: Every year, my wife’s extended family goes on a road trip somewhere in Indonesia. I could not go for the last two years due to work, but I was able to travel this. We rented a bus to sites such as mini-bar and karaoke, because, because not) and from Jakarta to Yogyakarta, to sites such as Borobudur and Prabhanan. This picture of some cousins was taken on a side trip to Nepal Van Java, which was a small hill village near Magelang, Jawa Timur.

Photographer’s statement: It was a warm, staining August day, and I had run the old Lincoln highway route via Harrison County, Iowa, the dead hill to sightly ignored bluffs, to climb the grass. At the top, it was cool leaving the air; I was probably the only human within half a mile. The panorama of the Missouri River Valley spread to my feet, the fields took a dip with clouds, a winding asphalt road directly under me.
Looking at the scene, I thought: “This is almost very correct. All needs a red variable.” When I listened to the tires, I was pointing to that scene, looked down, and saw … a red variable. For a moment, the brake lights slowed down for a fast left hand curve in the blink of an eye. I just had enough time to pull the camera in my eyes and make a shot.
