Entering the copy of the top toy store entering the mass packed toys
For the design of the first global major store of the top toy in Shanghai, Architectural studio X+living adopts a dynamic, playful approach. The outer aspect has a large-scale toy-packaging design with irregular transparent display window, which creates a blind striking entrance. A major top toy character, Great Power Fortune Cat, is displayed on an exaggerated scale, inviting the installation and exploration of a recognizable landmark. The interaction of vivid colors and open visibility serves as a loading screen, which establishes the platform for ‘gameified’ retail experience.
Inside, the spatial design reflects the aesthetics of the classic red and white gaming console. Instead of completely relying on nostalgia, the design rethinks familiar elements to create a connection in several generations. Modern visual elements ensure relevance to young audiences while maintaining an aesthetic continuity that appeals for all ages.

X+Living Top Top Toy Provides Game Map Layout for Flagship store
Gaming-inspired modularity informs the layout of the top toy flagship store, in which rectangular elements are obtained from gaming console, which display platforms, put in cold storage, and make seating arrangements. Design integrates the identity of the brand through elements inspired by china bricks ‘game of top toy,’ arranges modular units in various configurations. Transparent columns and staggered display platforms are similar to the plastic texture of the retro games, creating an open, layered visual experience. On the roof, a grid of perforated trusses is obstructed with mirrors, which reflects and inverts the space. The central ladder acts as a focal point, combining multiple levels and strengthening the spirit of vertical exploration for progress through sports levels.
The layout reflects a game map, which consists of interconnected routes guiding visitors through different classes. A zigzag circulation pattern on the first floor ensures smooth movement and product access, while a spherical passage on the second floor avoids rigid layout. The design of X+Living aims to create a multi-dimensional consumer experience that mixes aesthetics, engagement and brand identity.
