Artificial Intelligence Semiconductor Startup Groke announced on Monday that it has set up its first data center in Europe as it enhances its international expansion.
Groke, which is supported by Samsung’s investment weapons and CiscoSaid that the data center will be located in Helsinki, Finland and is in partnership Equivalent,
GROQ wants to take advantage of the increasing demand for AI services in Europe after other American firms, which have also increased investment in the region. Nordix is a popular place for data features, especially because the region has easy access to renewable energy and cooler climate. Last month, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was in Europe and Many infrastructure deals signedIncluding data centers.
Groke, which is value $ 2.8 billion, designs a chip that the company calls a language processing unit (LPU). It is designed to guess instead of training. Heining is when a pre-educated AI model explains live data to come up with a result, a lot of answers that are manufactured by popular chatbots.
While NVIDIA has a strangulation on the chips required to train the huge AI model with its graphics processing units (GPU), there is a swath of startups, hoping to take a piece of pie when it comes to guessing. Sambanova; Ampere, a company is in the process of procurement of softbank; Cerebras and Fractile, all are looking to join the AI Entrance Race.
According to CEO Jonathan Ross, there are many areas where Groke wants to stand out of its rivals including Nvidia.
In a Monday interview with CNBC, Ross said that NVidia chips would use expensive components like High bandwidth memoryIn which there are currently very few suppliers. LPU of Groq does not use such chips meanwhile, and the company’s supply chain is roughly located in North America.
“We are not limited to supply, and it is important for estimates, which is a lot of quantity, low margin,” Ross explained CNBC’s “squalk box Europe”.
“And the reason for this is that we are great for NVIDIA shareholders, we are happy to take that high volume but low margin business and others focus on high-margin training.”
Ross also postponed the capacity of Groke to deploy his technology at a pace. He said that the company decided four weeks ago that it is currently putting its server rack in place to set up a data center in Helsinki.
Ross said, “We hope to serve the traffic starting by the end of this week. It is rapidly created and so it is a very different offer that you see in the rest of the market.”
European politicians are pushing the perception of sovereign AI – where the data center must be located in the area. Data centers located close to users also help improve the speed of services.
Global Data Center Builder Equinix combines various cloud providers together, such as Amazon web services and Google Cloud, which makes it easier for many vendors for businesses. The LPU of GROQ will be installed inside the Equinix Data Center, allowing businesses to reach the conclusion capabilities of GROQ through equinates.
Groke currently has data centers with its technology in the US and Canada and Saudi Arabia.
