Nude palette by Rafael de Cardenas covers the SKIMS NYC flagship


SKIMSApparel brand founded by Kim Kardashianhas opened its first flagship store on New York’s Fifth Avenue, featuring interiors Rafael de Cardenas,


The SKIMS NYC Flagship occupies a historic building with an ornately detailed stone facade, located one block north of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and across from Rockefeller Center.

Inside, de Cárdenas has applied the brand’s signature nude palette to softly curved surfaces, rounded arches and floors.

“The flagship’s luxuriously soft yet crystal-clear interior reflects the complex historical aspects of the landmark building,” said the New York-based designer.

“This collaboration has created an immersive and innovative brand experience for existing SKIMS customers and new customers,” he said.

On a high ground-floor space, a giant mannequin presides over a display of SKIMS’s ultra-stretchy underwear, loungewear and shapewear collections.

The products are placed on Korean display podiums and small mannequins are installed in locations matching their tonal colors, designed for a wide range of skin tones.

The walls are covered with soft ultrasound, with mirrored panels in between that create infinite reflections of each other.

The fitting rooms are fitted with wraparound mirrors and light-box ceilings to “bath customers in soft, inviting light”.

“This flagship is a dream come true for SKIMS,” Kardashian said. “We have created a space that perfectly embodies our brand and elevates the customer experience.”

“New York City has always held a special place in my heart and opening our first flagship here during the holidays is truly magical,” she said.

Kardashian founded SKIMS in 2019, and the brand has created pop-up retail locations in cities Paris And London Since its establishment.

De Cardenas, whose firm was shortlisted for Interior Design Studio of the Year at the 2022 Dezeen Awards, has created spaces for a variety of household-name brands over the course of her career.
