Nikon ZR has some exciting video techniques that are not available in any previous nicon mirrorless camera. In addition to the N-RW format available in cameras like Nikon Z8 and Z9, ZR REDCODE RAW/R3D NE receives codec. With Log3G10 log profile, it allows color science matching with other red cameras.
On red cameras, changing the compression rate of redcode files, it is also possible to give a fairly small file shape to apple prures. It is expected, a variety of compression ratio will also be available on the ZR, which will make it a great option for N-RW, with very large file sizes.
Nikon ZR has Redcode Codec 12-bit, which is slightly lower than 16-bit versions on some more expensive red cameras such as Komodo-X. But 12-bit will definitely be sufficient for amateur filmmakers to output from a secondary camera on more professional film sets. And, in the video, you still get about 15 stops of the dynamic range with ZR.
As you probably reduce the camera from the body photos, the ZR lacks a visualization. This makes sense because it is usually used on camera rigs and video tripodes. But it makes 1000-NIT with 3.07 million dots, for a visible deficiency with 4 ″ rear display. (For comparison, Z8 has a 3.2 ″ display with 2.1 million dots). In addition, the camera in the display has a broad, P3 color space surge for more accurate evaluation.
The sensor for the video has also got a dual base ISO, and the custom lut supports so that you can load your custom lut to imagine what the final product will look like.
And unlike any other mirrorless camera to date, Nikon ZR has an internal 32-bit float audio, which eliminates the possibility of clipping your audio. First, to record this format, it would be necessary to obtain a dedicated audio interface.
Funny, the second card slot of ZR is a microSD slot. This is probably an agreement to keep the camera small, as is the lack of a fan that can make it difficult to record.
conclusion
Nikon ZR is a beautiful Nifty camera. It is definitely a video-oriented camera, and it is very capable in that regard. But, it is also basically a snatched version of Z6 III, which is priced $ 500 less than the Z6 III. Therefore, it should also appeal to Nikon users who want a small full-frame camera and who are interested in getting more severe videos.
