It’s an unexpected title, but the Texas NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex, which aired over-the-air on Fox, was the most-watched motorsports event of the weekend.
With 1.872 million viewers, the NHRA beat out the NASCAR Cup Series race from Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which drew 1.717 million viewers on USA Network. Both programs aired largely at the same time, but NHRA had an edge over the National Football League with 7.2 million viewers.
In other words, viewers who leave their television on or watch out of curiosity are counted the same as those who watch TV out of legitimate interest and fandom.
