Legendary Australian cricket team fast bowler Glen Mcgrath Believe Jasprit Bumrah One needs to work hard than the field to prolong your game career. Star India’s pacer has faced a lot of fitness challenges in recent years, in a recent conversation, McGrath said that Bumrah has discovered some ways to manage his stress, but because of his speed and technology, he needs to be smart in his approach. The legendary pacer also used his own example and said that he had a larger ‘fuel tank’ compared to Bumrah because he had low speed.
“He puts more stress on his body than other bowlers. They have discovered ways to manage it, but unfortunately not all the time. They have done it earlier (returning to injury), they would know better than anyone (time, time in the gym. McGrath told the Times of India, “He is not as young as he used to be, so he has to be clever about what he does.
“He has to work even more hard from the field. Being a fast bowler is like driving a car. If you do not top it with fuel, you are going to get out of fuel soon or later. My fuel tank was bigger than the Jasprit as I did not bowl quickly in it. These people know how they work in their best. If India is under the pump, they need it, ”he said.
Bumrah is likely to be remembered for Mumbai Indians in the early stages of IPL 2025 matches as Star Paper is still recovering from a low back injury that dropped him out of action since January.
Bumrah was hurt during the second day of the fifth day of the fifth test against Australia in Sydney and did not bowl in Australia’s second innings, where he successfully followed 162 for six wickets.
Bumrah, who took 32 wickets out of five matches in that series, has been sidelined since then, and has also missed out of India’s winning Champions Trophy campaign.
He was nominated in India’s provisional squad for ICC Shopis, but could not achieve optimal fitness level in time, as mystery spinner Varun Chakraborty was dragged in favor.
A source close to Vikas told PTI, “His repetition is going well. But given the India’s test series against England in June, it is better to give him some more time to return to peak fitness.”
