The studio said, “The project began with a simple but poetic idea of walking from the main lounge to the garden.”
Another challenge was the inability to the core in the concrete floor, and therefore run electrical cables in the seating areas.
To address both issues, the team prepared a series of planters raised that defines the lounge space and hide cabling and plugs.
“These planters not only bring succulent greenery and texture into space, but also define the circulatory path and frames many seating areas of the lounge,” said MRDK.
A new opening was carved into the wall of the original lounge to provide access to the extended area, which is wrapped by long glass panels in some places.
Guests arrive to find a line of residential-scal seating areas, each of which consists of two-seater couchs and two lounge chairs between planters on three sides.
The center has a high-sheer seating facility from both sides of a rhombus-shaped bar, and its upper shelves are at the top with cascading plants.
