British Touring Car Championship veteran adam morgan Excelr8 joins Motorsport for its 14th season of the series in 2025.
The 36-year-old Lancastrian is making the move to front-wheel-drive machinery with Excel8’s Hyundai i30 N Fastback after four seasons in the rear-driven BMW 3 Series.
Morgan has achieved eight of his 11 BTCC race wins to date with a Mercedes A-Class built and driven by his family’s Sisley Motorsport team.
Sisley acquired two BMWs from West Surrey Racing for 2021, before its machines – and Morgan’s – were absorbed into WSR in 2023.
While Morgan won three races in a BMW with Sisley, he never equaled his season-best finish of seventh in the championship with Mercedes in 2013, 2015 and 2018.
“I think that’s really the reason behind it,” Morgan told Autosport about the return of front-wheel-drive weapons.
“I’ve spent a good four years in rear-wheel drive – and with the best rear-wheel-drive team in the paddock.

“There are a lot of different factors involved, but the short answer is that I want some more success in front-wheel drive.
“As I approach the end of my career, it’s a really good box for me to move to the best front-wheel-drive team in the paddock.”
with 2022 champion tom ingram and Morgan’s 2021 Sisley BMW teammates tom chilton Already on board for next season, it means the first three of the four drivers confirmed for Excel8’s upcoming campaign have made more than 1200 BTCC starts.
“I don’t want to go out there and try to reinvent the wheel,” Morgan said, adding that he does not expect Hyundai to hit the track until after a shakedown before the first official BTCC pre-season test.
“Both Toms are incredibly fast – Tom Chilton has been my teammate, and I’ve got Tom Ingram as an absolute benchmark.
“I know both of them very well and I am very excited.
“The main thing for me in 2025 is that I want to go there to win races and fight at the front.

“I’m not here to rack up numbers, but I also want to have fun and enjoy my racing.”
Excelr8 owner Justina Williams said: “I’m sure it’s a deal that will surprise some people, but when we saw there was an opportunity to bring him into our line-up, we had to take it.
“Adam’s record over the years has been very impressive and putting him alongside Tom Ingram and Tom Chilton means we have three drivers who we know are capable of winning races and fighting right at the front of the grid , which promises to be another extremely competitive season.”
While the identity of the fourth Excelr8 driver has not been confirmed, Williams recently admitted to Autosport that she is working hard to replace the team’s three-time Mini Challenge champion and recent BTCC debutant. Dan Zelos will graduate to the full-time seat.
Meanwhile, Restart Racing, which recently confirmed that it will switch to Hyundai as an Excel8 customer for 2025, has announced that chris smiley Will last till 2025.
This is little surprise, as Smiley has been crucial in setting the team up from winning the TCR UK title in 2022 to moving into the BTCC this season with Cupra Lyons.
