Dear reader,
You might be wondering what happened. Some readers won’t care, and will say they just want their forecast, and I understand that. For those who are interested, I will explain.
I’m in Los Angeles, writing to you from my hotel room. I came here for Christmas to be with my daughter Diana Miller, because she has a sweet little baby, who is now 2 years old, and I wanted to watch little Oliver open the gifts that Santa Claus left for him. Had brought. (I sent several boxes of toys, all pre-wrapped with ribbon that we had prepared, to our office in New York, so it was a “UPS Christmas in a Box”).
I was up at 5 a.m. on Christmas Eve. After peeking behind the sofa to see if anything had fallen behind it, I missed my black ballet slippers and fell backwards onto the carpet. I used my right hand to stop the fall, but it hurt a lot afterward. In a nanosecond I found myself taking an Uber to Urgent Care.
I had a terrible sprain in my right wrist. At least it wasn’t broken, and I didn’t hit my head (grateful for that). The doctor told me that I would have to take complete rest for three weeks. I was in shock—“Three weeks! I don’t have three weeks! I write for a living!”
The doctor looked at me pitifully, as if he’d heard comments like this before, and reminded me, “That’s your right hand!” You are right handed! Think about it.” A sprain can be just as painful as a break, she explained, as she put my tender right arm in a Velcro brace. I tried to type but nature was making it difficult. I wrote a lot, And I was in the middle of Aquarius when it happened.
You know how people always say, “It could always be worse!” Well, it was about to get worse. I called Astrology Zone’s own editor-in-chief, Edward Rubinstein, who is based in Philadelphia. When she answered the phone, her voice was very high-pitched and she felt severe cold. “What happened to you?” He said, “Oh, nothing, but I sleep between each of your forecasts, and other editors are working on some of the other forecasts you sent me.” I thought that was all it could be.
I was feeling a strange twinge in my stomach, but I ignored it. I had a headache, which I never get. My wrists were killing me, and it was taking too long to type with my left hand. I went to sleep, but woke up in the middle of the night due to severe stomach flu. Just when I thought nothing more could come out of my stomach, something else came out.
I became so sick that I had to cancel my second speaking engagement this month at Soho House West Hollywood, and I’m so sorry. I have never canceled any program before. I sincerely apologize to those who were waiting to come.
After the flu went away, I was afraid to eat anything but I ate light food, which was good. I remained weak and trembling for a few days, but tried my best to keep my mind clear enough to do the math on your predictions.
Meanwhile when I was finishing Pisces my editor Edward called and asked me to rewrite a large part of Virgo because a certain part wasn’t completely clear. Edward said, “You must have written this when you started falling ill. “It’s not like you.” I said with a sigh, what else could go wrong?
I can use my fingers now, and the swelling has gone down, for which I am grateful, and although the wrist still reminds me that it needs rest, it is much better because I no longer have two to hurt. It’s been weeks.
