Longfellow Hotel There is a new building in the city’s West End neighborhood, a short distance from the historic Old Port area.
Named after local poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the 48-room boutique hotel is operated by Maine-based unusual hospitality,
The hotel team said, “Like the enduring words of the famous poet, the hotel reflects the rugged charm of the location and the extremes of the environment – from cold, muggy winters to sun-filled summer months.”
The ground-floor lobby space features tall ceilings accented by a series of tall windows, rail and styled wall paneling, and minimalist brass chandeliers.
On one side of the entrance, a lounge area is created by turd-coloured modular sofas that contrast with the light seafoam-green walls and black and white penny round flooring.
On the other side is an open space where a large wooden dining table, various patterned seating options and smaller accent tables provide space for guests to work or relax.
The hotel’s bar – named Five of Clubs – is located at the far end, with a giant mirror behind it and surrounded by vintage artefacts.
“The interior feels familiar, yet offers a true sense of place by blending contemporary elements with traditional touches to highlight modern timelessness,” he said. post company Partner Jou-Yi Chow.
“The design establishes a sequence of spaces that invites visitors, while beautiful details encourage them to stop and enjoy.”
Beyond the bar is the small Twinflower Café which serves coffee, pastries and a selection of breakfast dishes.
A separate but connected entrance leads to the hotel’s Astraea Spa, which was minimally designed with local granite surfaces, textured limewash walls and natural wood floors.
The guest rooms are spread across the upper floors and feature a mix of traditional and contemporary design elements.
All are furnished with wide-plank oak floors with monochromatic trim, crown and baseboard molding.
Black doors, cupboards, light fixtures and furniture pieces like tables and chairs match the off-white paintwork.
Meanwhile, the custom headboard with the scalloped top and TRNK-The chaise lounges designed were upholstered in jewel-toned velvet for added contrast.
Also on the top floor is a community lounge room for reading, working, board games and other low-key activities.
Hotel guests can take advantage of complimentary bicycle rentals and electric car service. These are just one of many eco-conscious efforts undertaken by the property, including zero single-use plastics and all-electric appliances.
