In today’s article, I will review the Leopoto Ranger LS -325C Carbon Fiber Compact Tipi. I carefully chose this tripod to balance my needs, and now I have used it for about a year in different situations. How is this held?
Design and features
The $ 359 Leofoto LS-325C is one of the large models in the tipi Leopot’s compact “Ranger” series. This means that it is between a traditional tripod shape and a travel-oriented model. Glasses are below for those ranger -series tripets, with LS -325 C below the fifth tripi:
The number of LS-325C names exposes its primary physical characteristics: 32 mm and maximum section diameter of five sections. I believe that “C” means to indicate the carbon fiber manufacture of the trippai.
I chose a trippai featuring five sections because I needed a model that could reach my eye levels during the portable enough to fit the airplane carry-on goods. It was required to be suitable for use with 600 mm F/4 lenses for wildlife photography, which is a demanding act, given that it is one of the highest types of lenses available.
Leofoto LS-325C largely receives it. It was quite short to fit into a handheld bag for the airport, while still quite long for comfortable photography. (I measure the visualization of the camera at 168 cm long / 5 feet 6 inches when a ballhead is attached, which is too much for me, which is enough to look at me comfortably without bending too much.) Tripod weight ratings are inconsistent in rating manufacturers, but at least 12 kg is sufficient that it will not be under my 600mm F / 4.
To be honest, the idea of using a tripod with five sections was not something that I was excited about. Not just because it is going to be less stronger than three or four-section trippai, but also because it is not in a hurry to use. To install the tripod, more foot classes have to be opened, which can take some precious time in the area.
However, when buying a tripod, I found that it was not bad at all. Perhaps my big hands help, but each leg can be expanded easily by opening all the joints in only one step. The same trick does not apply when closing the legs, but at the end of the day, it slowed me less than expected. Meanwhile, it has been very stable for my needs – later more on it.
The LH40 bundled this tripod with the head sells lefoto. However, I opted to buy a tripi alone to use with my existing ball heads: Uniqball UBH 45X for telephoto lens, and Rolley T5S Mkiii for the landscape.
The tripod package includes a carrying bag, a set of allen keys, a central column that may have a screw on the crosspie and metal tips for the legs. From this long list of accessories, I just use metal tips, which increases stability by anchoring the trippai in the ground.
Due to lack of a center column, the Leofoto LS-325C tripod can stretch its feet and lying almost flat on the ground.
As a final note, the joints of the foot are designed for easy decisam by opening them all completely, which facilitates cleaning after exposure to salt water and sand. For me, this is an essential feature for any tripod, because otherwise the joints are essentially ruined over time.
My experiences
As indicated in the description, I was demanding an ideal agreement: suitable for landscape and wildlife; Stable yet light; Proper longer but portable to travel by plane. No tripod would be perfect on all these things at once, so it was a question of finding a tripod with good balance of these characteristics.
The nature of the five-block of this tripod initially concerns me about it, but it proved to be the only way to achieve my other desired qualities-that is, fittings in hand items, while reaching my eye levels. Does it compromise on stability?
To some extent, yes – it is unavoidable with such tripod design. However, abnormally, Leopoto LS -325c has thick legs to maintain stability for five -section trippai. It comes at a price of some weight (it is 1.44 kg / 3.17 pounds, while the lightest five-second trippai of Leopoto is only 0.75 kg / 1.65 pounds).
However, I found it the only way to achieve some measure of stability when the tripod is at its full expansion. It will be the only appropriate option of Leofoto for either tripod, or slightly heavy LS-365C, five-section trippai that can catch 600 mm F/4. Essentially, these tripods receive their fifth section through a large diameter at the top instead of a small one at the bottom.
By all? I think this tripod is quite strong and even my heaviest Nikon is viable with the Z9 + 600 mm F/4 combo. I have no doubt that more stability will be possible with three or four-section trippai. However, I have yet to look at any alternative trippai that packing in the eye level and packing in its carry -on (in addition to the slightly heavy LS -365C of Leopoto, which is essentially a very similar model).
Finally, the price of $ 359 is appropriate. This price also comes with a center column (I do not think it is possible to buy a tripod without one). However, I prefer to shoot without the center column for maximum stability, and allow for low tripod heights.
conclusion
Leofoto ranger LS-325C does a good job that balances stability, height and compactness. For me, it is the optimal trippai for photographers, which need to be packed as much as possible while maintaining stability at the entire height.
