Kyle Larsen Right now the NASCAR Cup series is one of the top drivers, but switch to the Gen-7 race car from the Gen-6, something that he believes that he puts a remarkable dent in his statistics page.
He won his 14th win in the next gene era in the Homestand-Maymy Speedway on Sunday, which was also 30th of his career. Only 29 other drivers have reached that milestone at any time, but Larsen believes that this number may be more if NASCAR is stuck for a while with the previous chassis.
Play the playground
“I think if we still have a 2021 car, I will win about 50 cups now.” “I think by switching to this car, we have been limited by winning.”
This is quite a statement, assuming that he would have won around 20 more in the last three years without the introduction of the car, which has made the playground somewhat to some extent and made things very closely in the cup series field.
But if you look at the final season with the old car, Larsen’s claim starts to have some qualifications. Not only he won the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Championship, but Larsen also won ten races and led 2,581 laps – which is more than 1,000 compared to someone else. The new car deprived teams like Hendric to clearly benefit, as they introduced General -6 in 2013, provided a total reset for the game.
But it is not that he is struggling these days. Larsen won three races in 2022, four in 2023, and a series-end in 2024. And his homestand win in the last weekend was his first in the 2025 season after just six races.
“I think it is something to be with just a good team and to be able to adapt to new things that you try to be proud of yourself,” Larsen continued. “I think this is an area where 5 teams really excel and 24 (bayron).
“Yes, they are difficult to drive, however, you will really have to run hard, and I think perhaps a man like you benefits.”
