Komatsu feared “something broke” the “serious” issue between the Has F1 car


Has The team’s boss Ayo Komatsu admitted that he felt when his Formula 1 outfit has logged into its early FP1 laps in the Australian Grand Prix, and does not expect immediate improvement to its high -speed corner problems.

After following a similar run plan in the Bahrain test, it had gone in 2024, renounced all the performance runs for long speed and discovery of tire management, Has did not have many signs of its real speed versus the rest of the field.

But the team reached Australia, fulfilling the order, which Komatsu had revealed, surprised the American squad. The lack of a speed in high -speed corners, especially 9 and 10, was seen as the main criminal.

Komatsu reported that a smidgen of performance in low -speed corners was the only way to bring the car into a “respectable” performance window to apply it at the bend of high speed on the circuit.

“I don’t think it’s a closed,” Komatsu said. “It was a great surprise, we were not expecting that Bahrain was based on the test.

“Bahrain test was not correct, but we were not expecting it to deteriorate anywhere as Melbourne. In FP1, when the car went out in a very fast lap. I felt that either something was broken or something was completely out of the ballpark.

“Then when we installed, okay, nothing is broken, we got a big issue. It was very clear that the problem was at high speed, 9 turn 9, turn 10. Then we worked and worked to improve those corners with low speed expenses.

“But still, low-speed corners are fine, not great-but we had 9 and 10 turns compared to this issue, it’s night and day. So by Q1, we have managed to be 9 more or more respectable. But 10, still nowhere.

“We understand why, but with the issues we have, we cannot solve it for all corners, okay? So I think at least we took the right steps during the weekend.”

Komatsu said that the team plans to develop their way through the problem and instead of leaving it, to “deal with the head” and to focus on 2026, as the team feels that the problem is understanding where the problem is.

He said that the outfit would not be able to implement a solution for many races, given the seriousness of the problem. Komatsu believes that it belongs to the car interface with ground at low ride heights.

“I think we can do best with the Melbourne Circuit characteristics, that the weakness of our car that we discovered in Melbourne and then the characteristics of Turn 10 as a corner. At least we have a clear understanding of what the issue is.

“Then the next point is to understand which part of the car we need to modify, or in which part of the car has sensitivity to solve the issue of this performance. So until this point, we are appropriately clear.

“So, of course, next, how are we going to find a solution? Some of them can be a proper -term solution, but some of them will be a recurrence process, both in CFD and wind tunnels.

“So you are not going to see a solution for some races – it’s very serious.”
