John F of New York City. The change of Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is moving forward. This week, the airport reached a sufficient milestone, when the brand-new terminal 6 finished its curtain walls and first attached the new terminal.
It is a major milestone, and the airport is on track to hold a grand opening in January – before the schedule.
TPG was only one of the two media outlets, which got a new terminal tour, which would be a major step for the infrastructure of the airport in the Northeast.
We also got our first look at a newly unveiled art installation, which will congratulate the passengers as he arrives at the airport. You can see what this magnificent wall will look in the depiction below.
The 12,000 sq ft “JFK Global Panorama” is a custom-designed, 3D ombre artwork that features reputed New York City-based imagery and flight routes, reflecting global connectivity.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which runs JFK, is in the middle of a $ 19 billion project to replace the airport. When this is done, there will be many brand-new terminals, as well as new roads and ramps to make more easier than the airport.

JFK Millennium Partners visited TPG to the new Terminal 6 and told us how Terminal 7 will eventually be torn at next door. In its footprint, one and four gates for the second phase of the project will become part of an extended terminal 6. The second phase is expected to open in 2028.
The new terminal will be 1.2 million square feet and will offer 10 new gates, many of which will be built to handle wider body jets. You can get a good idea of space size when you look at the new central hub of the new terminal.

JFK Millennium Partners said in a press release, “This success supports other upcoming milestones, including permanent power and testing the building.”

The departure region will feature one of the longest departing karbas in JFK, including airline-branded passenger drop-off zone.

Terminal 6 will have five airline lounge airside, as well as an arrival lounge. JFK Millennium told me that the first arrival at JFK Airport is not yet a confirmed airline to host the lounge (so if you are an interested airline, it’s still time to grab space).
It is difficult to mention in the pictures below, but it is the place where the Lufthansa Terminal 6 is opening a large new lounge, which will have a dedicated entry through the escalator. While we have not yet all the details, we hope that it will include the dedicated Lufthansa first class, business-class and senator lounge.

In the picture above, you can see that on the left is where you will move towards Terminal 5 after completion of construction.
The new terminal land- and airide will be connected to adjacent Terminal 5, which is home to JFK Hub of Jetbu Airways. By the time the project is completed, you will be able to go back and forth between terminals 5 and 6 for shopping and even lounge hoping.

Terminal 6 and Jetbu’s terminal 5 will actually share a customs hall. You can see photos of the new customs area in the gallery below; It will have the facility of wide places and natural light coming from the upper walls and roof.

The baggage system is impressive. It starts with a biometric bag drop in check-in. From there, the goods are made through a complex system of conveyor belts and scanned by robots.

Another thing to note about the project is its environmental focus. The terminal consistently uses sour construction materials, roof solar energy, and energy-efficient systems and operational practices. JFK Millennium Partners told me that this is the target of Leed Silver or Gold Certification for the project.
Ground level
When finished, there will be a vision to see the converted terminal 6. From dramatic skylights to large -scale grand halls, biometric screening and bags for robotic baggage handlers, this airport terminal will be quite revelation.
This may be one of the country’s best airport terminals-and the other LGA and the Newarark Liberty International Airport (EWR) will give a real run for the best three-state airport after completing it once.
