Photographers worldwide recorded more than 25,000 pictures in this year Year bird photographer Competition, and Canadian wildlife and nature photographer Liron Gartsman took the Grand Award and took a grand award for his incredible picture of a frigatebird silhouette against last year’s total solar eclipse and in £ 3,000 cash.

Young bird photographer of the year 2025 – Tomas Michelsky
Along with the overall grand award of the Gurtsman, The Bird Photographer of the Year competition also names “Young Bird Photographer of the Year”. The 2025 winner is Polish young Tomasz Michelsky, who also won for a bird’s silhouette picture. In the case of Michaelski, the picture depicts a black vulture, which has a bird’s head and part of its torso and wings, occupying a significant part of the black and white frame.

Competition, which participated with birds to help support bird and wildlife conservation efforts with birds this year, includes a classification of categories: best pictures, bird behavior, bird in environment, bird in environment, flying birds, black and white, urban birds and white, urban birds, protection (single image), and creative perspectives. Girtsman won the “Birds in Flight” category and Michaelski won the 15–17-year section of the youth competition, so his images were left down.
