But even more fascinating was the simplicity of this recipe – and how delicious the end result tasted! I knew I would have it as soon as possible.

Standing in her kitchen on Thanksgiving, telling her mother that she was “teaching me how to make cookies on the Internet,” Chenoweth began by assembling Cool Whip container and a box of cake mix In their “1987 Blockbuster Video Bowl”. How to Make Kristin Chenoweth’s Crinkle Cookies
Material:
- 1 (8-ounce) container Cool Whip, room temperature
- 1 (15.2-ounce) box cake mix
- 1/3 cup Castor sugar
Instruction:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C).
- Use a spoon or whisk to combine Cool Whip and cake mix in a large bowl. This will take a few minutes and some elbow grease to fully incorporate.
- Use a cookie scoop to drop a dozen cookies onto a parchment-lined sheet pan. Then use your hands to roll them into balls.
- Bake on the middle rack for 15 minutes.
- Cool cookies completely. Place powdered sugar in a shallow bowl. Roll each cookie in powdered sugar, shaking off any excess before transferring to a plate or airtight container for storage.
- Add cookies on top, if desired canned icing of your choice.
Tips to Make These Cookies Better
Explore cake mix flavors. Chenoweth uses strawberry cake mix in her tutorial and tells us it’s her favorite. She also makes lemonade in the video, and we get a glimpse inside her oven while they cook. I made chocolate and red velvet, which were delicious and looked very festive for the Christmas cookie platter.
Apply icing on top of them. Chenoweth uses canned Duncan Hines frosting to match her cookie flavors (strawberry and lemon). She frosts only a few cookies, leaving most of the cookies empty so people can admire the beautiful wrinkles. I opted not to add icing because these cookies are very sweet to begin with, but it’s a fun option if you want to decorate them.
Store them properly. These cookies can go stale quickly, so be sure to store them in a container airtight container If you’re making them ahead of time. That being said, these are best made a day or night before. I enjoyed them fresh from the oven when they were chewy, rich and dense. My family continued to enjoy them the next day, but by the second day, they had gone stale. If you’re making them for Christmas or a cookie swap, plan to serve them in the best way possible.
