I thought the painting on the mold was fine – but I lived to regret it almost immediately

There was no real ventilation in the bathroom in my previous apartment, and the continuous rain motivated to steam the room and remain moist Some timeOver time, turned into moisture Mold splashes Dothed across the roof. It was ugly – at least and unstable to say.

I did not want the problem to get worse, but it was a problem that no one in the apartment was ready to deal with the person – so I took matters into my hands.

My “fantastic” idea

Facing a lot of block spots on my roof, I ran straight to my solution for everything in those days: Wipe wipesI grabbed my small ladder, climbed up, and scrubed on my roof until it looked “quite good”.

If you have dealt with mold before, then you know that it can be very stubborn. My quick reform only took care of the visual parts of the mold, and instead of addressing the underlying issue, I decided to hide the problem. I grabbed my can of white paint and Painted the entire roofLaying on what I had not really removed.

At the moment, it felt like a win: my bathroom was to be clean, fresh and bright. Not once I had never thought of doing research, or even asked myself whether I had understood anything. It all matured that the bathroom was no longer gross.

Mold returned (shocker)

A few months later, we came back to the place where we started: Wet roofMold’s dots – and now bubbling paint. It was as if my paint had never been done. This was a humble lesson: Mold does not just disappear because you cannot see it, and when the reason is not fixed it is strong.

alert

If you see mold in your home, whether due to light humidity or any other reason, do not touch it with your bare hands or paint it. Thin bleach is recommended for the treatment of mold, but never mix bleach with other cleaning products.

I will never make a mistake again

I was very young at that time and I thought I was clever, reducing a problem with a wiy and paint can. I saw a problem that people often appoint professionals to fix, and thought that this two-step solution would be enough to fix it. In fact, what I did was a fresh canvas to Mold.

If I understand, what do I do now – that proper ventilation and treatment are real solutions – I don’t even worry. Instead, I ended with a bathroom roof that taught me a valuable lesson: Mold never disappears when you paint on it.
