I booked a cruise with American Airlines Cruise – The Points Gai

Book a cruise through an airline? Banana feels, isn’t it? At least, it did it to me – until I did so.

For sailing recently, I booked a cabin through the American Airlines Cruise, a booking channel, which earned me a mile and loyal points for my cruise.

If you are loyal to an American Airlines, here is reported how you can use your cruise purchase and marks and make free travel and elite position at a distance of miles.

Why I booked through American Airlines Cruise

I live in the Charlotte region, an American Airlines hub, which means that most of my flights are through American. For example, I focus on my points and mile strategy what I can earn as a member American Airlines ‘ Aadvantantage loyalty program,

I too Aadvantagth aviator master card Holder. I use it to pay for most of our American Airlines flights, which gives me more ways to achieve a position with American Airlines. This was my first travel credit card, and it has been in my wallet for 25 years.

(However, starting in 2026, City American Airlines will become an exclusive issuer of Aadvantage Cobrandand Credit Card Portfolio. You will no longer be able to sign up for Aviator MasterCard, but you can choose it CITI® / Aadvantage® Executive World Election Class MasterCard® (Look Rates and fees) Or CITI® / Aadvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite MasterCard®,

Information for City / Aadvantage Platinum Selected World Elite MasterCard is collected independently by Points Gai. The card details on this page or the card have not been provided by the issuer.

With my Aadvantage Aviator Card, I enjoy the profit like a free checked bag and up to four people traveling on my reservation, prefer boarding on American-operated flights and an annual $ 25 credits for Inflite Wi-Fi purchase. I am also a fan of a minor $ 99 annual fee.

I usually book my cruises directly through the cruise line website, but I wonder if I had a better option for earning points and miles on my cruise purchase. When I discovered the American Airlines cruise, the airline’s branded cruise booking portal.

I was already an Aadvantage member, so I did not need to sign up for the loyalty program. (If you are at the beginning of the mileage-erical trip, it is easy to enroll through it American website,

Aadvantage members will earn 1 mile per dollar spent on cruise booked through the US Airlines cruise, as well as 1 loyalty point towards the situation for each dollar. (What is the difference? You use Aadvantage Miles to pay for prizes flights, but you need loyal points to achieve a elite position in American Airlines Aadvantage Loyalty program.)

Aadvantage Aviator MasterCard holder will earn an additional 1 mile per dollar spent on the cruise, as well as 1 loyalty point towards each dollar (from MasterCard, not from AA Cruise). Note that people with City / Aadvantage Platinum Select Card in their wallet will also spend 1 mile per dollar for each dollar spent and 1 will earn for the position of a loyalty point.

American Airlines Aadvantage was running a promotion for credit card holders when I booked my cruise, earning 2 miles per dollar spent on the purchase of my cruise. It was a “limited time offering” when I booked my cruise in January. However, at the time of writing, the proposal was still showing on a banner at the top of the American Airlines, cruzing the homepage. (Click on the promotional banner to just start.)

Your award will be posted in your Aadvantage account six to eight weeks after the conclusion of your cruise.

Aadvantage members can only earn miles from their American Airlines cruises booking; They cannot use the award miles to buy a cruise.

Once you create an American Airlines account and log in to the American website, click on the “Plan Travel” tab, which will leave a list of travel options including “Cruise”. This will open a new window for the American cruise booking site. Alternatively, you can go straight AA cruise website,

Once you are on the main page of the AA cruise website, use the “Cruise Search” box to filter the results for your desired journey (destination, cruise length, departure date, cruise line, ship and departure port). Additionally, a scrolling carousel cruise by the cruise search box throws light on the cruise line-specific sales and promotion.

When your search results appear, you can click on the photo to see ship, journey, cabin, deck plans, reviews and onboard experiences. Once you choose your cruise, click “Select” to start the booking process.

Choose the number of guests

At this stage, if you are a member of the loyalty program with the cruise line you have chosen, you will also have the option to plug into your member number. This can unlock additional discounts, so if you are not already a member, it is a good idea to join the cruise line loyalty program.

You will also confirm the number of people on your booking. If anyone in your group qualifies for senior citizen or military exemption, you can indicate here.

Choose cabin type

After entering the number of guests, you will choose the type of cabin you will like (inside, ocean-scenery, balcony or suit). Page will also show the base value for the least expensive cabin in each category.

You will see pricing for various cabin types within that umbrella category next time. If you book a cruise for two passengers, then Guarantee cabin Will appear as an alternative. When you choose a guarantee cabin, you allow the cruise line to choose your location and in turn, pay a low price. Therefore, if you want to choose your cabin location, you will have to pay more than the lowest rent listed for that normal cabin category.

After selecting the specific promotion/cruise fare price you like, you will move to the “select room” stage of the process. (If you choose a guarantee cabin, you will not be given this option.) Here, you can use the deck plans of the ship to decide where you want to locate your room.

Provide guest information

After selecting the number of guests and cabin types, enter the details of each cruise traveler, such as name, date of birth and residence. You will also be given the option to choose your favorite food time (initial, late or flexible based on cruise line).

Complete your booking

The final stage provides a summary of the cruise you are being booked and your final value, including cruise fare and port charges, as well as taxes and charges separately. (I was not given the option to prepare gratuity.)

Along with many online booking sites, you will also be given the option to buy travel protection for your cruise. I always recommend shopping A third-party travel insurance scheme,

Was the booking through American Airlines worth it?

The American Airlines cruise platform was easy to navigate, but was it the best option for a good price and earning points and miles for my holiday booking? Finally, yes.

If I had booked directly on the Royal Caribbean website, I would have paid the same cruise fare, as the American Airlines provides the same publicity as cruise cruise lines. Additionally, a quick call for my local travel agent It was confirmed that booking through it would achieve similar results from a cost perspective (although travel agents provide personal assistance that you cannot get from customer service with online booking platforms).

However, the booking through American Airlines cruises was actually paid, as it earned me points and miles at a distance with the Aadvantage Loyalty program of the American.

I earned 1,237 miles and 1,237 loyalty points on my American Airlines cruise booking. Meanwhile, I used my Aadvantage Aviator Credit Card, which thanks to a promotion at the time of booking, I earned 2 miles per dollar spent on my cruise purchase. It gave me an additional 2,474 miles and 1,237 loyalty points. Everyone said, I took away 3,711 miles and 2,474 loyalty points through my cruise purchase.

Additionally, I booked my flights through American Airlines using my Aadvantage Aviator Credit Card, which earned me 474 miles and 190 loyal points (for flights), plus 1,136 miles and 284 loyalty points (for using my American airlines cobrid credit card).

For flights and cruise, I earned a total of 5,321 aadvantage miles and 2,948 loyalty points. If I had booked directly through the Royal Caribbean website (and paid with my Aadvantage Aviator Credit Card), I would have missed the additional 1,237 miles and 1,237 lady points.

Ground level

Overall, I was pleased with the result of booking through the American Airlines cruise, and I would definitely plan to add airline cruise booking platforms to my resource list while researching future cruises.

Booking my cruise through American Airlines cruise was an easy way to earn points and miles on a cruise that I would have booked anyway. In addition, my cruise and flights were purchased with my Aadvantage Aviator MasterCard and earning additional points and miles offered even higher value.

Next time you are planning a cruise, do not count your favorite airline. If it offers a cruise or vacation booking platform – you will get the same for delta air lines, United Airlines And between the south -western airlines, other carriers – you may be able to rack some additional points and miles.
