Founder of Greg Armas, Boutique and Fashion Label Vidhan Sabha New YorkTodos came to Santos from Los Angeles Through Tijuana, by kicking 20 years trips with friends of Los Angeles. Armas fell in love with the slow pace and intimate energy of the region, And those trips became an annual pilgrimage. When he now met his wife, Gabrila Minguase at the beginning of the epidemic in 2020, he was eager to share the place he loved. Eventually, the pair made their way to Todow Santos in the same year, and began searching for a house away from home.
The couple were initially on hunting A fixer-upperBut a frightening night under a frost-stained Taco stand inspired them to do something completely different: an empty parcel land watching the water. Despite the changes in the plans, they immediately knew that it was a place for them. “It’s on a beautiful small crest, where deserts and oceans meet,” Greg says. “I just liked it very much.”
Earlier: Greg and Gabrila lived on property in a converted shipping container during design and construction process. More than anything, the decision allowed them to be used on the spot as well as coming up with design.
With the land purchased, the couple now faced a major challenge: deciding what to build is neither designed or built. However, the design in both was inclined: in addition to the background of Greg in the assembly, Gabrila is a clothes designer. “It was a long process to find out what the rules for the house. You have this empty piece of paper and it can become anything,” Greg says. Editing his abundance of ideas became fundamental for design. “We are not minimalists, but we are definitely going to cut. If nothing needs to happen, (we ask) if it is possible to remove it.”
It was that the Reductionist philosophy-Mexico led the home style of his lifestyle-that the home nap-and-you-on-Mis-this led the kitchen table. “I have a design issue with viewing elements you are not using. I have always been challenged by equipment in general, especially a huge oven or a stove is taking such a square footage in your home. This is so visible weight for this. It’s one-one percent time when you probably use it,” Greg says. ” “The idea of the vanity kitchen – big viking equipment, fake chef tap – all that was really lost on me. Can we just disappear the kitchen?”
The study of Greg at Feng Shui in the college informed the design language.
Greg broadcasting the idea of a laboratory when designing the kitchen table, one recalls aesthetics that is fond of high school. The result is a gravitational-separated place that feels half the workshop, half kitchen. “I remember in junior high thinking that the science laboratory had a truly interesting beauty,” says Greg.
How did they pull it: a light-to-hi kitchen table
- Chef’s kitchen was never a priority for the couple. “Todos Santos has a lot of amazing restaurants. Being there, we do not stay home and cook every food,” Greg says. “The kitchen does not have a heart, so to speak. It is located in the center, but it does not have the same gravity. My hope was that you did not really think it as a kitchen.” Instead of an island or an enclosed structure, the concept began as a long table, which had nothing, which had nothing below the place for light, shade and air to pass under it.
- Functionally, the table consists of two open burners while an oven and refrigerators are sometimes hidden behind a curtain for labor intensive food. Couples have managed to work with things while host. “We were there for the whole family for Christmas dinner,” says Greg.

Despite the light appearance of the table, it is surprisingly strong – a journey of about 150 pounds. It is made of an inch tubular steel, anchoring in the concrete floor for stability added with four legs.

Given that water and gas lines are highlighted, visitors are estimated that it is not the most child- (or dog-) favorable environment. Says Greg, “at the floor level, there is a small type of mask that protects the base of valves and hoses so that no one can travel on it or a dog can be caught around it,” says Greg. Thankfully, it has been a foolish solution till now. “It is a part of that idea for us to be very honest and transparent. We must have made something that do not see you hoses.”
The mask is defined by a series of 12-foot high metal luver doors.
“To fulfill the simplicity of that table, like most simple things, a lot of hidden work is required,” says Greg. But, as predicted, the additional legwork is worth it soon. “When you are on a holiday, you don’t want things difficult.”
Greg and Gabrila used steel, concrete and glass mainly to design the house.
