The owner purchased this former olive farm in 2024 as a space he and his wife could share with friends and extended family. He wanted a warm and livable design, with sustainable options and a “wow” moment here and there. “He didn’t want something so precious that he would cry if it broke,” says Bailey.
The owner loves Moroccan style but has worked all over the world. “He’s lived in India, Sri Lanka and Nepal and is very well-travelled,” says Bailey. “His London home has a lifetime’s collection of beautiful textiles, amazing bold colors and interesting art and objects. When Joe and I were there presenting him the mood board, we looked at him and said, OK, let’s get exactly what he likes.”
Miller agrees. “Initially, the owner wanted a Moroccan look and he wanted the color, but we quickly realized he wanted a cosmopolitan look,” she says. “The challenge was to give them that kind of aesthetic but incorporate it into a French farmhouse.”
The walls of the hall and landing are painted in hot pink beige. “We wanted it to be really atmospheric and a little moody, and we knew we had good lighting with which that tone would work,” says Bailey.
Miller acquired the old table in France. “We had to have it cut or it wouldn’t have fit in here,” she says. “It was basically more like a table than a console.”
