here’s a tip!
Wait until the cinnamon rolls have cooled until just before serving. This will prevent the frosting from melting and becoming too runny on the rolls.
Feel free to prepare and assemble these ahead of time. After rolling out your cinnamon rolls, place them on a cutting board or baking sheet. Freeze them separately for 2 hours. Once they are partially frozen, wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 3 months.
Make sure to thaw them completely before baking.
Store the frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
-
Preheat oven to 350ºF and line a small baking sheet with parchment.
-
Knead the dough: Add flour, blended cheese, maple syrup and baking powder to a bowl and mix. Once combined, form the dough into a ball. You will know the dough is ready if you tap the dough and it springs back immediately.
-
Place the dough on a floured surface and roll it out into a 4×8 inch rectangle (the measurement does not have to be exact).
-
Make the cinnamon filling: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, protein powder, and cinnamon.
-
Spread brown sugar mixture over rolled dough. Then tighten the dough lengthwise and roll it into a log.
-
Cut the cinnamon rolls into 2-inch wide rolls, you should have four rolls. Dip your fingers in water and trace it over the surface of the cinnamon roll. Then gently pinch to make sure the ends are attached to the roll. This way they will not open while cooking.
-
Place the rolls on a baking sheet and bake for 20-22 minutes.
-
Make the frosting: While the rolls are cooking, add all the ingredients to a bowl and use an electric mixer to mix the ingredients together. Make sure the cream cheese is softened or you will have lumpy frosting.
-
Before frosting, apply a little melted butter. Then, refrigerate the cinnamon rolls just before serving.* If you like, sprinkle with some ground cinnamon.
- Wait until the cinnamon rolls have cooled until just before serving.
- Store the frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
