Heathrow Airport stops after a nearby fire, causing lack of electricity, causing a major travel disruption.

Airport officials said that London’s Heathro Airport closed on Friday as an electrical substation was a power outage after a fire in a nearby power substation.

A spokesperson of Heathro said, “Heathro is experiencing an important power outage at the entire airport due to a major fire in a nearby power substation. While the firefighters are responding to the incident, we do not have clarity when the power can be restored,” said a spokesman for Heathro.

The spokesperson said, “We expect significant disruption in the coming days and passengers should not travel to the airport under any circumstances until the airport is reopening.”

The airport will remain closed till at least 11:59 pm on Friday.

“We know it will be disappointing for passengers and we want to assure that we are working hard to resolve the situation,” the spokesman said.

According to the flight-tracking site Flightradar24, more than 100 flights were interrupted by the closure of the busiest airport in Europe, which were in the air and forced to return or return to their original airports.

The United Airlines said that seven of its flights were discontinued or returned to their original airports due to closure, saying that all flights to London Heathro were canceled on Friday.

“We are working to provide alternative travel options with our customers,” the carrier said in a statement.
