Text details provided by architects. In 2021, Curtainy McDonal Architects were engaged to work on the renewal and expansion of the recently purchased 1950 house on Griffith Avenue. The house was required to upgrade significant upgrade, along with a reconstruction and expansion to the customer’s brief suit.
Our customers, who had recently moved from the US, called the open-plan to live with a connection, entertained and socially gathered a lot of places, a home office, a New front entrance, a master suite, and suite to visit a separate guest family. Starting a contemporary extension, enhances functionality and aesthetic appeal, while the design center on restoring the property in its original form.
The original front reception room facing Griffith Avenue was preserved and renovated as a guest suite to accommodate the visiting family. A new side extension acts as a link between the old and the new, with a shifted front door characteristic that faces Avenue (originally located on the gable), a dramatic large roof light, and exposed Wooden joyists that fill the shifting patterns of light and shade. Day. This transitional location observed the homes obsessively to the original rooms, through the hidden panel doors, to a coat closet, guest suite, utility and WC.
At the end of the new hallway extension, a striking white crystal glass door opens in a modern two -storey brick expansion that is facing the back garden. The surface includes open-plun living, kitchen and dining areas, while the first floor is dedicated to a master suite. A courtyard draws natural light in the heart of a courtyard scheme on the ground floor.
